Oregon Beer, Cascade BrewingHappy Friday! I don’t know about all of you, but I am certainly ready for this weekend to be here. Here’s the roundup of Oregon beer news and events taking place this weekend to help you get it started. I’ll be updating this post occasionally throughout the morning and as always if you have any news to share, please feel free to contact me!

Friday, 7/20

Cascade Brewing (Portland) is releasing its Kriek 2017 on Friday, both on draft and in 500ml bottles available at both the Barrel House and at the Lodge. “Kriek is a blend of sour red ales aged in oak wine barrels for up to 17 months with Bing and sour pie cherries. The beer features complex flavors of cherries, roast malts, oak and spice, and comes in at 7.7 percent ABV.” At the Barrel House, there will be some vintage Kriek available too (side by side?). Overall great timing to pregame for next weekend’s Kriekfest!

McMenamins 23rd Avenue Bottle Shop is bringing the coast to Portland for the evening, with Astoria’s Fort George Brewery in for a Proprietor Pop Up from 6 to 8pm: “Jack Harris, proprietor of Fort George Brewing in Astoria, is coming here. So come grab a pint, and say hi to the man, the myth, the legend behind some of our favorite beers.”

Puckerfest continues at Belmont Station through the weekend, the annual embrace of sour beer: “In addition to special releases and offerings from our long-time contributors such as Ale Apothecary, Block 15, Double Mountain, Upright, de Garde, Breakside, and so many others, we are bringing in a good number of great breweries that we usually don’t see around here specifically for the event, including E9, Libertine, TRVE, Paradox,Stoup, Floodland, Hill Farmstead, Wunderkammer Bier, The Rare Barrel , The Good Beer Company and more! Instead of having “themes” each day like we have in the past, we are just going to put all the great beers on tap and rotate them through as quickly as you can enjoy them.”

Portland’s Second Profession Brewing is raising money to help fight the Substation Fire currently burning in northern Oregon: “We are absolutely devastated by the substation fire happening right now outside The Dalles. Starting [Friday] through this weekend, $1.00 of every pint of Portland Farmhouse Ale we sell will be donated to the Red Cross to support the fire fighters who are risking it all to put this fire out. Additionally, cash donations and donations of bottled water will be accepted. Our goal is $1000 and 50 cases of water to be delivered to the collection point on Monday.”

Saturday, 7/21

Three Creeks Brewing in Sisters is celebrating its tenth anniversary with a party at the production brewery on Saturday from 2 to 8pm! “Join us for a carnival-like atmosphere with dunk tanks, bounce house obstacle courses, and more! We will have games, live music by Larry and His Flask, food trucks, and of course, beer showcasing 10 years of greatness! Bring your friends, bring your families! Admission is free. The food vendors listed include Shredtown, Schatz Pretzels, and more. Live music by the incredible, Larry and His Flask! All day drink specials. Come join us and CHEERS TO 10 YEARS!” This is a big milestone for the brewery and I had an article come out this week talking about the 10th Anniversary Imperial IPA that Three Creeks released. It’ll be a great party so stop on by if you can and wish Three Creeks happy birthday!

McMenamins Cornelius Pass Roadhouse (Hillsboro): The 17th Annual Roadhouse Brewfest & Roadhouse 152nd Birthday takes place Saturday! “It’s the height of summer and no one wants to be indoors – we all want to be outside, drinking beer and dancing and singing the night away in honor of Oregon Craft Beer Month, right? Yeah! So come on out for the hugely popular and massively fun Roadhouse Brewfest — complete with a pig roast in the Orchard. We’ll feature dozens of brews from McMenamins Breweries as well as guest breweries and cideries. Tour the Brewery and Distillery, enjoy food for purchase, and rock out to the free live music – which will be in the Orchard, Octagonal Barn AND Imbrie Meadow!” It’s an all day affair and looks like a ton of fun.

The Hammer N’ Ales Brewfest is taking place at the Seven Feathers Casino Resort in Canyonville (south of Roseburg), put on by Umpqua Valley Habitat for Humanity, on Saturday from 5 to 10pm. “Umpqua Valley Habitat for Humanity is gearing up for its 5th annual craft beer festival, its largest fundraiser of the year. Funding from the brewfest helps Habitat build decent, affordable homes for families in Douglas County communities. The event is for those 21 and older and includes tasting beer, wine and local foods. Other highlights include dancing to live music from a local band, and the chance to win in an oral auction, a raffle and a Wheel of Fortune. Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door, and proceeds go toward the costs of building and repairing homes for local families who do not currently have adequate housing.”

Claim 52 Brewing (Eugene): Saturday Claim 52 is celebrating Hazy Dog Days of Summer: “Join us for a dog-friendly Saturday afternoon, sipping on Hazy IPA or another one of your favorite Claim 52 brews at the happening Claim 52 Brewery and Taproom. Chill under the sun, relaxing with your best furry friend – or make some new ones – all for a great cause! If you don’t have a dog, then come anyway and share the fun! The pups can splash in our kiddie dog pools, you can play games with your pooch, listen to some tunes and groove the afternoon away! You deserve this. So does your pup. A portion of the proceeds will go to Greenhill Humane Society to help care for the animals.” It takes place from 2 to 6pm.

Sunday, 7/22

Belmont Station‘s Puckerfest continues with a special event: An Afternoon with Vasili. “Fresh from his current home in Vermont, Oregon ex-pat Vasili Gletsos will be in the house from 2-5 PM! (And, yes, there will be Hill Farmstead and Wunderkammer Bier on tap!) Looking forward to seeing our old pal!”
