Oregon BeerMonday is back and kicking off a new week and nearly a new month! I hope your weekend was a good one, we’re back into the news in Oregon beer once again. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news as I find it, so check back often. And if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that posted as well.

Burnside Brewing (Portland) has a new summer seasonal Kolch hitting the taps and bottles this Wednesday, July 1: Sunsplash Kolsch, “a Jamaican inspired rendition brewed with hibiscus, orange zest & thai ginger.” From the press release: “To celebrate the release of Sunsplash Kölsch in bottles and draft, this Wednesday July 1st, Burnside Brewing is giving away a pair of tickets at their brewpub, to see Ziggy Marley at the Oregon Zoo on August 8th. Anyone who comes into the pub beginning at 4pm receives a raffle ticket and you get another raffle ticket for every pint ordered. Winner will be randomly selected after 6pm, must be present to win.”

Belmont Station (Portland) is doing a tasting of “Fancy-Pants Beers” with Merchant du Vin that were not at this weekend’s Portland International Beerfest, from 5 to 7pm today: “We always love having Merchant du Vin’s Tom Bowers in house for a tasting. Not only does he offer up some tasty imports to sample, but he tells a great story and you really get to learn a lot about each beer. As is tradition, Tom joins us right after the Portland International Beer Festival to share a few more delicious imports that weren’t featured at the fest. This year he’s bringing: Ayinger Altbairisch Dunkel, Rochefort 8, Traquair House and Lindeman’s Faro. We also will be pouring a very special, rare keg of Ayinger Maibock in the biercafé!”

Terminal Gravity Brewing (Enterprise) has a new summer seasonal dropping on July 1 as well: Weed Wacker Session Ale. From the press release: “At 4.7% ABV, and 20 IBU’s, this Summer Session Ale is an easy drinking beer that celebrates all things summer. Described as “The perfect accompaniment to your summer yard work” This limited session ale from Terminal Gravity
is reminiscent of fresh grass and lemon trees with
a hint of bread. It’s pretty much summer in a bottle! Beginning July 1st, beer fans can find this summer favorite in 12 ounce bottles and six packs wherever TG is sold.”

Bend Brewing (Bend): They have a new beer on tap that sounds good: “HONEY BELGIAN BLONDE- This Belgian Blonde was brewed with 50lbs of Honey from a beekeeper on the slopes of Mt. Hood. The Belgian Blonde pours a light golden color with a rich lacy head. A sweet spice like aroma lead you into subtle yet complex flavors of Pilsner malt, floral honey, noble hops, smooth spice from the Belgian Abbey yeast, and mild alcohol warmth. Sante’. 7% ABV 26 IBUs”

Bend’s Whole Foods Market is holding their 4th annual Whole Foods Brewfest this Friday, July 3, from 4 to 8pm as a benefit for the Humane Society of Central Oregon. The Whole Foods in Bend has long been an active member of the beer community with their brewfests, tastings, and support of local events, and for this year’s Brewfest they have over 20 breweries lined up to pour as well as live music from Bobby Lindstrom.
