Oregon BeerHappy Friday! It’s going to be hot, hot, hot! Be sure to stay hydrated this weekend especially if you’re drinking plenty of beer at one of the many things going on. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news, so check back often. If you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that posted as well.

It’s a weekend full of anniversary celebrations, starting with Bend’s Deschutes Brewery, who is celebrating their 27th anniversary tomorrow, Saturday the 27th (their “Golden Birthday”) with birthday parties at both the Bend and Portland Pubs. In Bend, festivities run from 4:30 onward, with live music, a toast by Gary Fish at 5:30, flights of Black Butte XX* anniversary series along with this year’s version, 27 different beers on tap, the annual back-alley party, and more. Portland’s pub has all-day birthday fun including beer specials, birthday cake, photo booth, and more. Happy 27th birthday Dechutes!

And Bend’s Crux Fermentation Project is celebrating their 3rd birthday tomorrow, in their annual Cruxapalooza party! It takes place all day starting with when they open at 11:30am: “One of our favorite days of the year! Come celebrate our 3rd anniversary with us and enjoy community, live music all day long, tasty food and of course, BEER! We encourage carpooling and cycling to this event. SPECIAL ONE-OFF [BANISHED] BEERS: 1. Golden Sour—Crooked Stave Collaboration. 2. Bretted Peaches and Pears Saison. 3. Viognier Sour.” The parking is an issue at their location, so to encourage alternate transportation they posted: “Just to sweeten the deal, we’ll enter walkers and cyclists into a raffle for Crux Gear (hats, growlers, Cruxapalooza shirts) with a grand prize of a $50 Crux gift card.” Cheers!

Baerlic Brewing (Portland) is celebrating their first anniversary tomorrow (Saturday the 26th) with their Day of the Baer Anniversary Beer Fest: “Baerlic Brewing Company officially proclaims the last Saturday in June the Day of the Baer! We’ll be pouring over 30 Baerlic year-round, seasonal, experimental, barrel-aged, infused, collaboration and cask beers in celebration of our first year in operation! All attendees will receive a Day of the Baer commemorative tulip glass with 10 taster tickets. Beers will be rotating on 22 taps throughout the day joined by food carts, music and good old-fashioned fun!” It runs all day long and you can buy tickets in advance here ($20 each).

Reverend Nat’s Hard Cider (Portland) is celebrating their 2nd anniversary on Saturday as well, starting at noon: “Here it is: The party I’ve been waiting for. Join me and the entire Rev Nat’s crew as we celebrate two entire years in our Public Cidery & Taproom. I’ll bring out the jockey boxes to showcase 20 ciders including 12 from my stash and 8 guests ciders of the highest caliber. Our buddy DJ Dickel will be spinning tunes well into the evening and I’ll have a huge pile of free Otto’s sausages if you get there in time to enjoy one. The street shall be closed for this awesome 21+ only party.”

And, Eugene’s Viking Braggot Company will be celebrating their 2nd anniversary Saturday! “Viking Braggot is turning 2 years old!! The 2nd anniversary party will be held at the brewery taproom, with Bacon Nation preparing a special menu in addition to live music, games, commemorative swag and specialty braggot on tap. The party runs from noon to midnight on Saturday, June 27th!” Congrats!

Uptown Market (Portland): Their Lake Oswego location grand opening continues today and tomorrow, with: “June 26th- Woodchuck Cider and Firestone Walker Brewing Co. 5pm-8pm. June 27th- Wild Ride Brewing tasting from 4-7pm”

The Bier Stein (Eugene) is hosting Eugene’s WildCraft Cider Works for a tasting today (Friday) from 5 to 8pm: “Join Eugene’s fine cider producer WildCraft for a tasting, part of Oregon Cider Week! We will be tapping four kegs, and sampling those from bottles too! Farmhouse #4 is a wild, barrel fermented cider. Wild Rose is infused with sweet briar roses. Hard Cider is WildCraft’s standard dry cider. And we will have the only keg of Imperial Hard cider available outside of the Ciderhouse; it is an eau de vie infused, Hungarian oak aged frost cider at 13.9% abv!”

Bier One (Newport) is hosting Corvallis’ 2 Towns Ciderhouse today for a cider tasting from 6 to 9pm: “But that’s not all! A New Orleans jazz band called, “The Dixie Giants,” will also be performing a 6pm and a 8pm set. Come join the fun!”

I hate to say it, but in the swatch of summer beer festivals I always forget about this one: The Portland International Beerfest is taking place this weekend, Friday through Sunday the 26th through 28th. “PIB is a high end 3-day beer festival specializing in rare, hard-to-find, exotic beers. Over 200 world-class beers from 16 countries will be on hand, hailing from all over the planet, many from right here in the Pacific NW. Stroll around the beautiful park with a cold one as you listen to music play all weekend.” It’s taking place at Holladay Park at Lloyd Center and will cost you $25 (though entry is free).

Eugene’s latest Beers Made By Walking is taking place tomorrow, Saturday the 27th, and is taking place during the Living River Celebration on Green Island and joining Agrarian Ales and Oakshire Brewing. The beers from the Eugene walks will be tapped on November 5 at The Bier Stein, with proceeds benefitting the McKenzie River Trust.

Portland writer Steve Shomler’s new beer book, Portland Beer Stories is having its official release party tomorrow at Lardo Sandwiches on SE Hawthorne, taking place all day from noon to 10pm: “Come enjoy a beer, a meal, purchase a copy of Portland Beer Stories and have it signed by Author Steven Shomler. Lardo is working to have a beer or cider on tap that day from EVERY brewery and cidery profiled in Portland Beer Stories! Many of the brewers and personalities profiled in Portland Beer Stories will be at Lardo on June 27th and you can also have them sign their chapter in Portland Beer Stories!”

Base Camp Brewing (Portland) is hosting “Summer Solstice 2015” block party tomorrow (Saturday), at Base Camp’s brewery starting at 2pm (Facebook event): “Base Camp Brewing Company and Outdoor Project’s Second Annual Summer Solstice Party is here! Kicking off summer in the best way possible with friends, games, food, live music and of course delicious beer! Come celebrate the great outdoors with us and all of our wonderful sponsors. We have collaborated with Buoy Beer Company to bring to you a delicious Session India Red Lager. A beer that you will want to enjoy on all of your summer adventures. We will have KOi Fusion, Pacific Pie Company and Fire Box Food on site as well!”
