Oregon Beer News, 06/26/2012

Oregon BeerHere’s the beer news from around Oregon for Tuesday the 26th of June. As usual I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day as I come across more news, so check back often for the latest updates. And please contact me if you have news to share, so I can get that posted as well.

Belmont Station (Portland): Tonight they are featuring one of the most anticipated Portland releases that has people excited lately: the new bottle release from Gigantic Brewing (along with a tasting and meet the brewers). “Join the Gigantic lads as they launch their beer in bottles for the first time. They’ll pour tastes of The City Never Sleeps Dark Saison and IPA and you can get some bottles for your fridge! We’ll also have their IPA, City Never Sleeps, and Rauchweizen and the Bandit (smoked hefeweizen) on tap in the Biercafé as well. It’s gonna be HUGE!” It’s taking place from 6 to 8pm.

10 Barrel Brewing (Bend) is engaging in more reality TV fun; they posted on Facebook on Friday: “Well… It’s happened again! Ourselves, along with three other breweries around the state, have been selected for a reality TV pilot focusing on the Oregon craft brewing industry. They’ll be filming today and tomorrow around the brewery and the pub.”  They had previously filmed a pilot (or at least part of one) a few years back for a show that became (as I understand it) “Brew Masters” on Discovery Channel that ended up starring Dogfish Head instead. We’ll see if this one pans out. Of course, I’m wondering which three other Oregon breweries were selected…

Silver Moon Brewing (Bend): This week’s Growler Power Hour specials are for Epic Trail Ale and Hound’s Tooth Amber today (Tuesday), and Epic Trail Ale and Bridge Creek Pilsner on Wednesday. The GPH offers up $6 growler fills for the the selected beers on the selected days from 4 to 6pm.

Ninkasi Brewing (Eugene): Tonight they are having a meet the brewer at Portland’s Plew’s Brews from 7 to 9pm. Check them out to taste Ninkasi beers and talk to the masterminds behind them.

Cascade Brewing (Portland): Tonight’s Tap It Tuesday starting at 6pm is featuring Elderberry III. “This live barrel of NW style sour red ale was initially aged for 14 months in French oak wine barrels then additionally aged on elderberries for 10 months. Aromas of sharp, dark port, raisins, black currants and hints of red peppercorns are the first to be noticed. Tart, dark fruit, blackberries and currants on the palate lead to a slightly drying finish of sweet elderberries. 7.75% ABV, $7 glass, $2.50 taster.”

GoodLife Brewing (Bend): This Saturday, the 30th, they are celebrating their first anniversary! “Come join us in the Biergarten from 3pm-10pm where we will have live music, lawn games, awesome food carts, and of course, our delicious beers! All ages are welcome. Thanks for your support this year, it’s very much appreciated!”
