Oregon Beer News, 06/23/2015

Oregon BeerA bit of a late start today; here’s the news in Oregon beer for Tuesday, the 23rd of June. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day, so check back often for the latest news. And if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that posted as well.

Uptown Market (Portland) is opening a second location in Lake Oswego, and tomorrow is their grand opening—kicking off four days of grand opening celebrations: “Draft Brew specials all day! June 24th- Guest tastings with Oakshire Brewing and Hop Valley Brewing Co. from 2pm-5pm. Georgetown Brewing and Ninkasi Brewing from 5pm-8pm.” I’ll post additional updates on each day for those particular specials. No word (yet?) on whether they are also going to be brewing at this new location.

Oregon’s latest beer book, Portland Beer Stories by Steven Shomler, is out now and the official release party is taking place this Saturday, June 27, at Lardo Sandwiches. “Saturday June 27th from Noon – 10 PM Lardo PDX on Hawthorne is hosting a book release party for Portland Beer Stories! Come enjoy a beer, a meal, purchase a copy of Portland Beer Stories and have it signed by Author Steven Shomler. Lardo is working to have a beer or cider on tap that day from EVERY brewery and cidery profiled in Portland Beer Stories! Many of the brewers and personalities profiled in Portland Beer Stories will be at Lardo on June 27th and you can also have them sign their chapter in Portland Beer Stories!” Congrats Steven!

Laurelwood Brewing (Portland) is canning their beers for the first time, to be available in the next few weeks. From the press release: “Laurelwood’s Red Elephant IRA (India Red Ale) will be available in six-pack cans in Portland area stores by July, with the rest of Oregon to follow. To celebrate the milestone, Laurelwood Brewing Co. is hosting a Red Elephant IRA can release party at 6 PM, Wednesday, July 1st at The BeerMongers beer bar and bottle shop on SE Division Street. Not only will the beer be there, but the Laurelwood brewers behind the beer will also be in attendance.”

Yachats Brewing (Yachats) was in Portland working on a collaboration brew: “We had a second collaboration brew day with Culmination Brewing Company and Tin Bucket yesterday. Stay tuned for the release of our Summer Dry Hopped Saison and Imperial Cascadian Black IPA in a few weeks.”

Cascade Brewing (Portland): Their Tap It Tuesday tonight at 6pm at their Barrel House is featuring “Live” Frite Gaulois 2014: “A preview of our latest summer project, Frite Gaulois (freet gaul-WAH) is a blend of Saisons, Weizens and Blonds aged in white wine barrels for up to 15 months with white cherries, coriander, orange peel and sea salt. 7.4% | $7.5 glass | $2.5 taster”
