Oregon BeerHere’s the news in Oregon beer for Tuesday, May 8. I’ll be updating this post periodically throughout the day so if you have some news to share, please contact me so I can get it updated! And check back often for the latest updates too.

Gigantic Brewing (Portland): The grand opening of their new Taproom and Champagne Lounge is tomorrow, Wednesday the 9th! The doors will open at 3pm and stay open until 9ish; they’re located at 5224 SE 26th Avenue in Portland. They should have two house beers on tap (their IPA and Imperial Black Saison I think) along with their various collaboration beers they’ve been brewing recently on tap as well. This should be a lot of fun!

Deschutes Brewery (Portland): Apparently yesterday I got the date of the Portland Pub’s Toast to Twilight Ale & Hop in the Dark wrong, it’s actually today! The toast will be at twilight (8:15-ish) and in addition to a special menu there will be swag and six-packs of Twilight Summer Ale available.

Burnside Brewing (Portland) is getting set to release their new “Kali-Ma” fruit-spice-and-pepper-infused wheat wine next Tuesday, the 15th, in 150 very limited one liter magnum bottles (and on draft): “Kali-Ma, is inspired by the Hindu goddess and her tribute in the movie Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. The name Kali comes from kāla, which means black, time, death, lord of death, Shiva. Kali-Ma the beer is an Imperial wheat ale or wheat wine made with toasted cardamom, fenugreek, and cumin spices added in addition to almost 400 pounds of apricot. Fermented with a Belgian ale yeast harvested from Upright Brewing. We then dry hop it with 8 pounds of scotch bonnet and native India dandicut peppers.” The release starts at 3pm. No info yet on what the price per bottle will be.

Cascade Brewing (Portland): Tonight’s Tap It Tuesday is featuring High Class Blond at 6pm: “a NW style sour blond ale that was barrel aged for a year in French oak. Tart apple, vanillin and soft oak are present upfront. Hints of green apple and sweet green grapes in the first few sips lead to a crisp finish. It’s interesting to note that there was no vanilla added to this; the vanillin comes from the barrel aging in French oak. Also, as this ages over the next two weeks, look for notes of brandy to appear. 7% ABV, $6.50 glass.”

Laurelwood Brewing (Portland) is featured at Troutdale’s Birra Deli‘s Beer Club tonight—a monthly beer tasting for $5 featuring various breweries and offering up beer and some food. “Come out and see Kevin at Birra Deli starting at 6:30 pm. He will be sampling our Free Range Red, Gearhead IPA, and Ink Heart CDA. We also have our Cascara Obscura and award winning Mother Lode Golden Ale on tap.”

Bend Brewing (Bend) has World Cup-winning Ching Ching on tap tonight for Locals Night tonight! Starting at 6pm. This is a great beer so go find it if you can!

Silver Moon Brewing (Bend): This week’s Growler Power Hour features Bridge Creek Pilsner and Silver Moon’s new Getsum Pale Ale. The “Hour” is Tuesday and Wednesday from 4 to 6pm, featuring $6 growler fills.
