Oregon BeerIt’s Cinco de Mayo! Do you have plans yet? If not you might want to check out the first item below, but then all of today’s beer news will give you options. Here it is for Thursday, May 5. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day, so check back often. If you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that posted as well.

Salem’s fifth annual Cinco de Micro Brewfest kicks off today at the Salem Convention Center, and will run through Saturday the 7th. For $15 to enter you get your mug and two tasting tokens (presumably $1 per additional token) and they have a nice lineup of breweries and entertainment to take you into the weekend.

Boneyard Beer (Bend) is celebrating their anniversary today! “It may be Cinco De Mayo but it’s also our BIRTHDAY!!! To celebrate 6 awesome years of beer making, we’re offering $6 growler fills of RPM and Bone-A-Fide today!” Congrats on 6 years of some of the state’s most popular beers!

At Reverend Nat’s Hard Cider in Portland today, they are celebrating Cinco de Mayo with a Tepache bottle share starting at 4pm: “My annual ¡Tepache! release will be a blockbuster this year! Come over to the Public Taproom for a ¡Tepache! blowout bottle share (and eat yummy tamales too)! The way it works is you bring a $10 entry fee and a bottle of beer you want to mix with my pineapple-awesomeness and then you drink your beer plus other people’s contributions, and I provide all the ¡Tepache! Sounds good?” Read more details here.

Saraveza (Portland) today is debuting Russian River’s STS Pils to Oregon! “One of my personal favorite styles when the weather gets nice is a hoppy pilsner, and that’s just what they sent us! Those of you who have made the pilgrimage to the brewery may have seen it on tap there before, or maybe you have even seen a bottle from time to time, but STS Pils has hit the market. It’s draft only but we’ll be pouring it along some of their other year-round hits this night.” It’s pouring from 6 to 9pm.

Atlas Cider (Bend): They have a new Dragon Fruit Cider coming out and today is the release party for it, taking place from 8 to 11pm at their taproom in the Old Mill District. “Featuring DJ ESIS – FREE for all. Dollar OFF pints of our new mythical Dragon Fruit cider. Let’s rage like Dragons.”

Cascade Brewing (Portland) has a new release today to check out: Twisted Julep. “Today come try Twisted Julep, our play on the classic Mint Julep cocktail with a twist of lime. We aged our sour quad ale in a bourbon barrel for 16 months with fresh lime peel. Served with fresh mint in the glass, the Twisted Julep brings a Southern touch to our Northwest sour ales for Derby Day. Limited batch, and it won’t last long!”
