Oregon BeerHappy Hump Day! Here’s the Oregon beer news for Wednesday, April 27, and I hope the day is going well for you so far. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news, so check back often for updates. If you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that updated as well.

McMenamins Cornelius Pass Roadhouse (Hillsboro) has their monthly beer tasting flight taking place today, dubbed The Java Cooperative: Coffee Infused Beers. From 6 to 9pm they will have five coffee beers on tap: Ma Donna Coffee Porter, Terminator Stout Cold Shot Edition, Ale Born Coffee Porter, Spanish Coffee Terminator, and White Chocolate Mocha. Grab a taster tray and be awash in the java!

The Green Dragon (Portland): Today’s Green Dragon Brew Crew release is featuring a wheat variation named Weissen: “This week the Green Dragon Brew Crew releases what can best be described as dessert in a glass. Called Weissen, it’s their unique take on the familiar German wheat beer Weizen. The Brew Crew’s Weissen will fill your nose with the scents of fresh marshmallow and whipped banana cream pie. Take a sip through its creamy white foam, and you will be refreshed with the fluffy feel of lemon juice and banana meringue in a flaky pie crust ending with a dry crisp finish. Sounds like the only thing missing is a fork.” It starts at 5pm and definitely sounds interesting.

Belmont Station (Portland) today is welcoming Washington’s Fremont Brewing for the latest leg of their “Tour de Oregon” road trip promoting their new Oregon-only Independent IPA (check out Brewpublic for details on that beer). “Join the Fremont crew on this leg of their epic Tour de Oregon road trip! They will be tasting a wide array of their incredible beers in the bottle shop and we will also be pouring several of their more rare, seasonal or new beers on tap: Independent IPA, Summer Pale Ale, Bourbon Barrel Aged Coffee Cinnamon Abominable Ale and The Sister Imperial IPA.” It runs from 5 to 7pm tonight.

Ecliptic Brewing (Portland): Today is the official release for their new Callisto Tripel with Blackcurrants, appearing on draft and in 22-ounce bottles. From the press release about it: “Callisto Tripel is named after the outermost of Jupiter’s four Galilean moons, and the most heavily cratered object in our solar system. This golden Belgian ale features traditional flavors of a sweet tripel with the addition of tart blackcurrants.” It’s 7.5% abv and should be an interesting fruit beer so keep an eye out.

Ground Breaker Brewing (Portland) has a new beer release today, a gluten-free 7th Ave Saison: “Their saison, a pale ale brewed in the refreshing farmhouse style originating from the French-speaking Wallonia region of Belgium, is an easy to drink gluten-free beer that lets the distinctive yeast and noble Fuggle hops speak for themselves. At 4.7% alcohol by volume and 20 IBU, this cooling seasonal ale is a perfect fit for all manner of springtime activities. 7th Ave Saison will be released Wednesday, April 27. Ground Breaker Gastropub will feature a paired menu for their Wednesday Supper. Ground Breaker is also featuring three Taproom Exclusives. 7th Ave Tarragon Saison, 7th Ave Lemon Saison, and 7th Ave Kumquat Saison. These Taproom Exclusives will only be available in the Ground Breaker Gastropub for a limited time.”

Bent Shovel Brewing (Oregon City) posted about beer back on tap this weekend: “We love making delicious beer for our thirsty friends. Back on tap this weekend: One Wagon Pilsner, crisp, clean, light, refreshing, 4.7% 30IBU. Here comes the sun!”

The Oregon Brewers Festival has news for this year’s fest: first, this year’s mugs have been revealed! “For the first 25 years of the OBF, beers were served in a thick, milky white plastic mug. In 2013, we switched over to a glass to better allow the color of the beer to shine through. That continued in 2014, but last year the Portland Police and Portland Parks decided to ban glass from all parks, so we switched to a high-quality, BPA-free plastic glass. This year, we are returning to a mug, but now it’s a 12 oz. clear styrene plastic free of BPA and phthalates. Cheers!”

And then the OBF brunch tickets will go on sale Monday, May 2: “Oregon Brewers Brunch tickets go on sale next Monday, May 2 at 9am via the website. The 10th annual Oregon Brewers Brunch & Parade will be hosted by Laurelwood Public House & Brewery. The event will take place on Wednesday, July 27th from 9am to 11:30am at the The Melody Ballroom. Following brunch, we’ll all march across the Hawthorne Bridge to the opening ceremonies. Brunch tickets cost $46 apiece, which includes brunch, two beers, a T-shirt (NEW DESIGN THIS YEAR!), the OBF tasting mug and your first four tokens. 500 tickets will be sold.” Get on top of that.

Sasquatch Brewing (Portland): Tasty fruit beer on tap! “Warm weather brings a craving for light beer. The Cherry Springer at 5%ABV is tart and packed with fresh fruit. Juicy but not overly sweet this beer is for the long sunny days ahead.”

Saraveza (Portland) is tapping a special beer from Russian River Brewing you may want to check out: “We’ve been keeping something secret… A hoppy Pilsner from @russianriverbrewing! Tapping on 5/5 along with some other @russianriverbrewing goodies! Come out and try this new to Oregon treat!”
