Oregon Beer, Ecliptic CollaborationThe end of the week is nigh, and I for one am looking forward to it! With the weekend in sight, here’s the Oregon beer news for Thursday, April 25. As usual, I’ll be updating this post throughout the day with the latest news as I find it, so check back often.

It’s an Ecliptic Brewing anniversary ale day! The Upper Lip above Bailey’s Taproom in Portland is hosting the release of Ecliptic’s and Firestone Walker’s collaboration beer, Hazy Double IPA, for Ecliptic’s fifth anniversary. “Be the first to try the Hazy Double IPA, a Cosmic Collaboration with Ecliptic Brewing & Firestone Walker Brewing. Meet Ecliptic Brewmaster, John Harris, and Firestone Walker Brewmaster, Matt Brynildson, who will be in attendance!” The Upper Lip will also be pouring several other draft beers from each brewery. The party takes place from 4:30 to 6:30pm.

Then, it moves over to Belmont Station, where the after party kicks off at 7pm. “Ecliptic is celebrating five trips around the sun with a series of collaborations with some of founder/brewmaster John Harris’ brewing friends. This month’s release was brewed with Firestone Walker brewmaster Matt Brynildson: Hazy Double IPA brewed with Azacca, El Dorado, Idaho 7 and HBC 692 (experimental) hops. Matt and John will be in the biercafe, hanging out and celebrating with us!”

Ninkasi Brewing (Eugene) is hosting a Pints for a Cause fundraiser today to benefit the Eugene Science Center: “Join us for “Pints for a Cause” in the Eugene Tasting Room! $1 from every pint sold will benefit Eugene Science Center. Kids are encouraged to attend this event! The Eugene Science Center will have a paper rocket launcher and wind tunnel on site — perfect for little and big kids alike!” It takes place all day.

Portland’s Cider Riot! is celebrating six years today! “We’ll be pouring 6 vintages of 1763 Revolutionary West Country Cider including a sneak preview of the yet-to-be-released 2018 vintage. Tapping super limited casks of Kingston Black and Pyder a perry-cider blend. We’ll be selling limited edition patches 2 for $6, and offering $6 six-packs of our Everyday line; Everyday Semi-Dry, Everyday Passionfruit, and Everyday Berry. GoodLife Brewing (Bend) announced the latest beer in its collaboration IPA series with musician G. Love, The Juice IPA. From the press release: “Last year, GoodLife Brewing and G. Love and Special Sauce teamed up to create the Danky Dankster, the dankest IPA known to mankind. This year, we are switching it up and brewing the second beer of the collaboration called The Juice IPA. After extensive scientific research and our brewers having numerous sleepless nights, we have blended a recipe of outstanding malts, hops, mountain waters, and yeast. The Juice is super citrusy but has the clarity you’ve been seeking. This IPA is bright pale yellow in color with a thick head and nice lacing on the glass. Utilizing 2-Row Pale and Pilsner base malts, along with a little Carapils malt and rolled oats, we have created layered, clean malt flavors that accentuate the nearly 3 lbs per barrel of hops used in this beer. Laced with Mandarina Bavaria, Mosaic, Centennial, Amarillo and Comet hops, there are aromas that are both citrusy, slightly herbal, and of course, juicy. A medium bodied beer with a crisp bitterness, the juicy/citrus notes come through with a subtle soft mouthfeel on this beer. G. Love’s Special Sauce is a juicy and drinkably pleasant IPA.” Release parties for the beer will be coming up in June.

Beachcrest Brewing (Gleneden Beach) has a new beer coming out tomorrow (Friday), Sunshine Wheat: “Everybody loves the sunshine and we brewed this wheat ale with that in mind. Whether you’re chilling out on your patio, kicking back in a beach chair with your toes in the sand, or catching some rays on the deck at BCBC, this easy drinker is sure to fit the occasion. We added coriander, bitter orange peel and sweet orange peel to a 50% wheat malt bill while keeping the hops subtle, so this one feels like it’s been kissed by the sun. Enjoy it with a fresh slice of orange and enjoy your life in the sunshine.”

Modern Times Beer (Portland) has a new beer available, DDH MT5! DIPA: “Originally brewed honor of our 5th year in existence, we significantly upped the ante for this 8.4% hazy DIPA by double dry-hopping the hell out of it with Nelson and Motueka hops, which combine with an oat-centric malt bill to create an outrageously fruity, tropical juice-fest with a beautifully soft, pillowy mouthfeel. You can totally snag some next time you’re at Belmont, be it on draft or in cans.”
