Oregon Beer News, 03/22/2012

Oregon BeerHere’s the Oregon beer news for Thursday, the 22nd of March. As usual, I’ll be updating this post periodically throughout the day with news, so be sure to check back from time to time. And if you have some news you’d like to share, please contact me and I’ll get it updated.

Burnside Brewing (Portland) is teaming up with Brasserie Montmartre for a Brewer’s Dinner tonight starting at 6:30. It costs $45 per person and features both the brewer (Jason Macadam) and chef (Michael Hanaghan) talking about their respective offerings. “First in this year’s Brewers’ Series at Brasserie M, the Brasserie is partnering with one of Portland’s hottest local craft breweries, Burnside Brewing Company, for a four-course beer dinner. An intimate mingling of guests will feast on four hearty family-style dishes.” The dishes and the beer look fantastic; call (503) 236-3036 for reservations. (This is perfectly apropos incidentally since “brasserie” is French for “brewery.”)

Cascade Brewing (Portland) is releasing their Blueberry in bottles today, and they’ve got quite an event planned for it: “The blenders will be on hand at “Blue Thursday” to answer questions, and we’ll also have a 1/4 bbl of the original 2010 Blueberry on tap for comparison, plus a little of the Shrieking Violet. The 2011 Blueberry is a blend of wheat and blond ales that were aged in oak barrels for up to 12 months before aging on fresh blueberries for an additional three months. Bottles will sell for $17.” The release party starts at 4:30 at the Barrel House, and they’ll also be offering some blueberry-themed food specials as well (like a blueberry spring salad and blueberry blintzes). This is a release fruit (and sour) beer lovers will not want to miss out on.

Alameda Brewing (Portland): Today is the release party for their Bad Bunny Imperial Cream Ale, from 5 to 9pm, featuring $2 pint specials all day, and live music and bottles of Bad Bunny available for sale as well. This is their amped up Cream Ale, that comes in at 8.2% abv—pretty hefty for an otherwise light style!

Ambacht Brewing (Hillsboro) will be open from 4 to 6pm and offering visitors samples of their Ginger Farmhouse Ale: their Golden Farmhouse Ale infused with shredded ginger root to produce a true ginger ale. Ginger (particularly fresh) added to a beer is a delicious, refreshing addition; this one sounds tasty.

Pelican Pub & Brewery (Pacific City): Today is the release of the collaboration brew with Red Rock Brewing of Utah, CoHOPeration, an India-Style Rye Lager. “CoHOPeration will be available at the Pelican beginning Thursday, March 22nd. We have a limited supply of bottles and a small amount on draft, so come get it while you can! And for those wondering, a few select bottle shops (to be determined) will have a very limited supply soon.” And, those bottles are special 500ml (slightly more than 22 ounces) bottles that have a unique profile—if you can find one, grab it up.
