Oregon BeerHere’s the news in Oregon beer for Thursday, the 21st of March. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news, so check back often for updates. And if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that posted as well.

Today is the 27th birthday of McMenamins‘ raspberry-infused Ruby Ale! Ruby was first brewed in March of 1986 and is still one of their most popular flagship beers—pretty terrific longevity if you ask me. At all locations they have Ruby specials: “Celebrate this raspberry-ale wonder with pints for $2.50, bottles to go for $4.50, food specials and more…. Plus, today only, celebrate Ruby’s birthday with 20% off all Ruby gear at our online shop – use coupon code Ruby27 at check out.” And, some McMenamins locations are also holding a “Golden Ruby” contest: “Does your favorite pub have a Golden Ruby hidden on property? Would you like a chance to win an exclusive, not-for-sale I LOVE RUBY t-shirt?” Details are on the Facebook event page and they promise updates on the main Facebook page as well (for clues and whatnot).  Go enjoy a Ruby Ale today!

Belmont Station (Portland) is holding a tasting tonight from 5 to 8pm featuring Kansas City, Missouri’s Boulevard Brewing: “This Kansas city based brewery is crafting marvelous beer, with something for everyone’s palate. Come Try the Dark Truth Belgian style Imperial Stout, Double Wit, Grainstorm Black Rye IPA, Singlewide IPA, Doublewide Double IPA, Quad, and Tank 7 Saison. Rye on Rye (Imperial Rye ale aged in Rye Whiskey Barrels) and Harvest Dance Wheatwine on tap in the Biercafe.”

The Green Dragon (Portland) is holding a tasting and meet the brewer tonight with Hood River’s Full Sail Brewing (not Deschutes Brewery as they previously announced—they had a last-minute change). The Full Sail beers will be tapped at 5pm, and the meet the brewer portion will start at 6.

Golden Valley Brewery (McMinnville): Today is the release of their new French Prairie Blanche, and from 3 to 6pm pints of the new beers will be only $2 until the first keg blogs (how it usually works). Also don’t forget that they are pairing the beer with fresh Alaskan oysters on the half shell, brought in special for the release!

Cascade Lakes Brewing (Redmond): They have a new beer on tap: a Sorachi Ace hopped seasonal IPA. It’s 6.5% abv, and Sorachi Ace is a nice hop so be on the lookout for it.
