Oregon BeerHappy St. Patrick’s Recovery Day Monday! I hope your holiday weekend went well and you’re not hurting too badly today. In the meantime beer news keeps marching on, so here’s what we’ve got going on in Oregon this week. As usual I’ll continue to update this post periodically throughout the day so check back often, and if you have some news to share please contact me and I can get it updated.

This week seems to be “anniversary week” in Portland:

  • Hopworks Urban Brewery is celebrating the 4th Anniversary of their main (Powell Boulevard) location tomorrow (Tuesday the 20th) all day long, with $2 beers and 20% off HUB merchandise.
  • Laurelwood Brewing is celebrating their 11th Anniversary on Wednesday the 21st, along with their Green Mammoth Imperial IPA release party, and they’re celebrating with happy hour beer prices all day (excluding the Green Mammoth) at their Sandy Boulevard location. They will also have live music and face painting from 5 to 9pm.
  • McMenamins is celebrating the 26th birthday of their hugely popular Ruby Ale on Wednesday the 21st also, all day long at the Hillsdale Brewery & Public House. Ruby Ale (their raspberry-infused light ale) will be available for $2.50 a pint, and $4.50 a bottle, and there will be Ruby-themed food specials as well. Keep an eye on the Hillsdale Facebook page to stay on top of their updates for the day.

The Brew Shop (Bend) is hosting a Sierra Nevada tasting tonight from 6 to 8pm: “John Leineweber from Sierra Nevada will be joining us. We are fortunate enough to have Beer Camp #58, Raiders of the Last Hops on tap and available for tasters. Bend’s own Thom Pastor had the privelage to help create this beer. Torpedo IPA will also be available on tap and for tasters. Other varieties may be sampled as well.”

Burnside Brewing (Portland) has a Brewer’s Dinner coming up on Thursday the 22nd at Brasserie Montmartre, featuring four courses paired with Burnside’s beers and brewer Jason Macadam talking about each one. It starts at 6:30 and costs $45 per person; reservations are required with you can get by calling (503) 236-3036.

GoodLife Brewing (Bend) took the first place People’s Choice award for their beer at the Pouring at the Coast fest this weekend: nice job guys!
