Oregon BeerHere is the Oregon beer news for Thursday, March 16. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day, so check back often. And if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that updated as well.

Portland Cider Company and Cider Riot have teamed up to host and early St. Patrick’s Day Cider Party at the Portland Cider House on SE Hawthorne from 5 to 8pm:”Featuring limited release Brigid cider from Portland Cider Co. & a Cider Riot Irish cider favorite, Plastic Paddy, sold in 2-litres bottles to take home. Portland Cider House will have a couple ciders from Ireland on-tap too, including the iconic Magners Cider.” About Cider Riot’s Plastic Paddy: “American dessert apples lack the characteristic tannins of European cider apples, so in order to replicate the flavor profile of a dry Irish cider, we use Barry’s Gold Blend tea from County Cork to infuse the cider with just enough tannins to balance the natural acids of the Hood River dessert apples used to make it.” And about the (note: non gluten free!) Brigid from Portland Cider: “A poetic blend of fresh apple and old country hops give way to a lightly sweet rye finish.”

Brewed by our brewer Brendan Murphy, the proud son of a McHugh and a Murphy, this tasty take on a traditional dry Irish stout has aromas of roasted malt, semi-dark chocolate, and rye pepperiness. With a warm malty backbone and hints of caramel, toast, and raisins it makes for a mighty fine pint indeed (4.9%). We’ll also be serving Bangers & Mash and featuring real Irish music (on the stereo). Sláinte!”
