Oregon Beer News, 03/16/2015

Oregon BeerIt’s a Monday once again kicking off a new week. And this week, of course, includes St. Patrick’s Day, so I’ll be posting all of those updates for sure. And the rest of the Oregon beer news too; as usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news as I find it, so check back often. And if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that posted as well.

Terminal Gravity Brewing (Enterprise): Their Tap Out Strong Ale is coming to bottles in a limited seasonal release. From the press release: “For the first time ever, Terminal Gravity’s TapOut will be available for a limited time in six packs and single 12 ounce bottles all across Oregon and Washington. Coming in at 9.8%, TapOut is incredibly smooth for the high octane ABV.” Tap Out is the first of several new seasonal bottlings coming from Terminal Gravity for 2015.

Cascade Brewing (Portland) and their Raccoon Lodge has their St. Patrick’s Day beer ready to pour: “Just in time for St Paddy’s Day, we offer our new Dry Stout, an easy-drinking stout designed to shepherd you at any time on your beer journey, be that breakfast, lunch or supper. Bitter chocolate and roasted malt aromas coupled with flavors of roasted barley and hints of cacao nibs are complemented by a crisp, dry finish. 4.8% ABV / 20 IBU $5 Pint / $2 Taster / $10 Grenade Refill / $17 Growler Refill”

10 Barrel Brewing (Bend): Their new Portland brewpub goes on line today in Portland’s Pearl District. Brewpublic posted some preview pictures and opening notes, and the New School has an in-depth preview, including a look at the beer list and notes about the food (there was a media preview this past Friday).

Laurelwood Brewing (Portland) has their St. Paddy’s specials posted for tomorrow: Corned beef and cabbage, and bangers and mash, both cooked in beer. And: “Enjoy these hearty meals with pints of Laurelwood Tree Hugger Porter and our Organic Espresso Stout, for $3.50 each, all day… because your St. Patrick’s Day dinner is that much more authentic when paired with a beer.”

Chetco Brewing (Brookings) is building a tap room, and looking for investor opportunities—basically, the old school pre-Kickstarter way of simply offering up tiered investment possibilities and asking. “Our Tap Room will be located at 927 Chetco Avenue. Radio Shack is downsizing so we will be in the southern half of their old space behind Khun Thai. We have plans for 10 taps and room to seat 49 people. At this stage of our growth, we will not be providing food service so the Tap Room will be open to the 21 and older crowd. There is work to do and money to spend. We’ve got a signed lease, a set of plans and one hell of a landlord, but we are still going to need some help to open the doors. Our goal is $15,000 and we intend to use it in the following three ways: A Patio!! Wouldn’t that be great?? Thought so. Windows! Need ’em, right? Man Caves have their place but… and an ADA restroom. It’s the right thing to do, and it takes money to do it right.” (Located in part of an old Radio Shack… it’s an interesting spotlight on remote, small town Oregon as well.)

BricktownE Brewing (Medford) has their St. Paddy’s day beer ready: “In honor of St Patrick’s Day we brewed a dry Irish stout. It’s being served on our nitro tap starting today. Come give it a try!”

Mia & Pia’s Pizzeria and Brewhouse (Klamath Falls) is gearing up for tomorrow as well (though I don’t see mention of beer): “Mmmmm… it’s tomorrow! Mia & Pia’s St. Patrick’s Day Party — Corned Beef & Cabbage, served with carrots, potatoes and Irish Soda Bread, available all day and/or while supplies last! Irish Stout on special! Live music at 6:30 with Lads of Leisure, plus Miss Klamath County, Miss City of Sunshine contestants will be there to help serve dinner to promote their upcoming scholarship pageant.”

Three Creeks Brewing (Sisters) is planning “green beers all day” (hopefully meaning organic, or really really fresh?) and will have the food specials as well.

Oregon City Brewing (Oregon City) is geared up for St. Paddy’s: “We are ready for St. Patty’s day here at the taproom! We have four awesome Irish inspired beers in tap. Double Mountain Brewery & Taproom’s Black Irish Stout on nitro, Feckin Brewery’s Dublin Pale and Top o the Feckin Morning and our very own OCB Irish Red.” Glad to see they have at least one of their own!

Agrarian Ales (Eugene) tomorrow is releasing a collaboration beer they brewed with Corvallis Brewing Supply, Harry Oyster Stout—and the release, oddly enough for the Eugene brewery, is in Corvallis: “Agrarian Ales and Corvallis Brewing Supply have got a special treat for St. Patty’s tomorrow! With 4 variations of the same beer at 4 locations within walking distance of each other, Corvallis is the place to be tomorrow!” Locations include Corvallis Brewing Supply and Les Caves next door to Block 15.
