Oregon BeerHappy Friday! This weekend is daylight savings when we turn the clocks ahead one hour (boo). Drown  your sorrows over losing an hour in Oregon beer news. I’m not going to be at a computer much of the day so I won’t be able to update this post much; but please feel free to let me know anything beer related that’s going on.

The big event of the weekend is Saturday’s third annual Baker’s Dozen fest taking place at Culmination Brewing from 10am to 5pm: “The 3rd Annual Baker’s Dozen, or BD3, melds three things Portland does best: coffee, beer, and doughnuts. Each brewer uses beans from different roasters in order to participate. Admission includes all 13 coffee beers, morsels of all 13 doughnuts, and a souvenir glass. Actual coffee will be provided, too, along with house-made breakfast options available for purchase. Live jazz can be enjoyed throughout the fest.” The fest is split into two sessions, 10am to 1pm and 2 to 5pm. Tickets online cost $27 per session, and $30 at the door. Don’t miss out!

Friday 3/10:

Yachats Brewing is hosting a Meet and Greet for their Goat Yoga Brett IPA collaboration beer they brewed with Claim 52 Brewing, taking place at their coastal brewery from 2 to 4pm on Friday: “Come try our collaboration beer with Claim 52 Brewing, Goat Yoga Brett IPA. This is your only opportunity to meet the brewers, the Goat Yoga lady herself, and cuddle with her goats while drinking our delicious beer. Hope to see you there!”

Worthy Brewing (Bend): Their Firkin Friday returns (actually it may not have gone away, I just haven’t seen links for it lately) Friday from 3 to 9pm: “Start the weekend off right with Firkin Friday. We’ll be tapping a firkin of undryhopped prefunk with loads of the Strata hop! Pints are $3 until we run out!”

The Modern Times Beer Oregon rollout continues this weekend, with stops at the following locations:

Saturday 3/11:

Fort George Brewery (Astoria) is celebrating their 10th anniversary on Saturday! “When Jack Harris & Chris Nemlowill first looked at the abandoned Fort George Building on the corner of 15th & Duane, they knew where they wanted to put their brewery. And now, thanks to this great community, Fort George Brewery + Public House will celebrate it’s 10th year in Astoria. Everyone at Fort George raises a toast to you on this anniversary day – Saturday, March 11th. Join us for live music (upstairs 8pm to 11pm), a 10th Anniversary Barleywine bottle release (noon in the Lovell Brewery), and an epic custom cake designed by Chef Jeff and his wife Lindsey (serving at 5pm in the pub).” HUGE congrats to Fort George on making it a decade and being super successful! I wish I could be there!

McMenamins 23rd Avenue Bottle Shop (Portland) is hosting a beer tasting with Belching Beaver Brewing on Saturday from 2 to 4pm, featuring their Hop Highway IPA and Peanut Butter Milk Stout.

Beergarden in Eugene is hosting the Eugene release of Goat Yoga Brett IPA, the collaboration brew between Yachats Brewing and Eugene’s own Claim 52 Brewing, on Saturday from 5 to 9pm: “Goat Yoga Release Party! Two of our favorite breweries came together and created Goat Yoga! When the folks at Yachats Brewing collaborate with the folks at Claim 52 you never know what is going to happen. Set your expectations high, but don’t be disappointed when there is no actual goat on the beergarden patio! Just a bunch of phenomenal brews from two fantastic breweries! Followed by live music at 730 featuring Monday Morning Denial.”

Sunday 3/12:

Bazi Bierbrasserie (Portland) is hosting their fifth annual Saison’s Greetings to welcome in daylight savings and spring! “It’s daylight savings time! Spring forward to Bazi on Sunday, March 12th from 11 AM-8 PM for a farmhouse ale tap takeover featuring domestic and imported Belgian inspired beers. Sampler trays will be available for purchase. Choose any 4 for $9. Each flight consists of 4 – 5 oz pours. And don’t forget the all Sunday Happy Hour, so come thirsty and hungry!” They have an insanely great list of beers lined up so if you’re a saison/Belgian style fan, you really should go check it out.

Eugene’s ColdFire Brewing is holding a Lane Haitian Relief Fundraiser all day Sunday starting when they open at noon: “Join us Sunday March 12th to support Lane Haitian Relief! $1 of every pint will go to Lane Haitian Relief & their medical teams providing heathcare needs to Haitian communities.” Make sure to stop by and enjoy a pint or three to help out.
