Oregon BeerHappy Friday! The weather on tap for this weekend is going to be great, so make sure to get out and enjoy some sunshine along with your beers. Here’s the news in beer for the first weekend of March. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news, so check back often. And if you have news to share, please let me know and I can get that updated as well.

The big event I wish I could make it up to Portland for The Lucky Lab‘s 18th annual Barleywine and Big Beer Tastival, going on today and tomorrow (Friday and Saturday) from noon to 10pm each day. This is the longest-running and, I think, only event of its kind in Oregon, and check out the epic taplist they have planned; they will have 25 on tap at any one time. It’s taking place at the their Quimby Beerhall location, and entry, glass and 4 tasting tokens are $15, with additional tokens available for $2 each. Seriously: go, if you’re in the Portland area and if you can, this is a great event! (Here’s the Facebook event page as well.)

Seaside’s annual Pouring at the Coast Beer Fest is kicking off today with their Brewers Dinner (sadly, sold out already) and tomorrow with their pouring event (the main “fest” part) from 3 to 8pm at the Seaside Convention Center, and featuring “Over 30 Breweries, Wine, Local Food Vendors, Live Music, and the Beach.” Their brewery list is a great highlight of some of Oregon’s smaller, coastal and regional breweries that we don’t always see represented, like 7 Devils Brewing (Coos Bay), Arch Rock Brewing (Gold Beach), Bill’s Tavern & Brewhouse (Cannon Beach), 1188 Brewing (John Day), and the new Misty Mountain Brewing in Brookings. Plus—it’s on the coast, so you can’t go wrong!

Juniper Brewing (Redmond) is celebrating their first anniversary today and tomorrow, which I wrote about in detail yesterday. From 4pm to closing today, and 11am to closing tomorrow they will have beer specials, the Dump City Dumplings food cart, live music on Satuday night, and more, so anyone Central Oregon-bound (or already here!) should definitely swing by and help them celebrate!

And speaking of anniversaries, Springfield’s Plank Town Brewing is celebrating their 2nd anniversary tomorrow (Saturday the 7th) all day long! “We’re celebrating our second anniversary with the release of our 2015 UnObtainium Double IPA. We’ll have beer specials all day long with UnObtainium available on tap and in 22oz bottles. Cheers!”

Ecliptic Brewing (Portland): Today at Portland’s White Owl Social Club, Ecliptic has the launch party for their Orbiter IPA and Spice Pils in bottles: “We are starting at 5pm and will also have Down Kriek Cosmic Storm Belgian Sour and Phobos Single Hop Red Ale on tap. This is a very important event to myself and to the brewery so I hope to see you there.” The event runs from 5 to 8pm, and you know they are gonna be good!

The Bier Stein (Eugene): Tomorrow (Saturday) they have Bend’s Atlas Cider for a cider tasting: “Join us for a tasting with Bend’s Atlas Cider Company! Atlas uses 100% fruit juice in their semi-sweet range of ciders. More details forthcoming.” Time is not listed yet, so keep an eye on their event page for details.

Ground Breaker Brewing (Portland) will be in Sunriver at the Mountain Jug on Saturday from 2 to 5pm for a gluten-free beer tasting. It’s a great opportunity to explore some nice gluten-alternatives when it comes to beer, so if that applies to you make sure to check them out.

Full Sail Brewing (Hood River): They are teaming up with The EastBurn in Portland Saturday for Stouts and Snouts, a special bourbon barrel aged series vertical tasting and dog fundraising event: “Here’s a rare opportunity to sample 7 consecutive years of Full Sail’s Bourbon Barrel Aged vintages and benefit a great cause. Hors d’oeuvres will be served and there will even be a Puppy Kissing Booth! Tickets are $10 and will be available at the door the day of the event. For your ticket you will receive 5 tokens which will be redeemable for tastings and/or adorable puppy kisses. Additional tokens will be available for $1 each. All kissing booth proceeds, silent auction and adoption fees will benefit Oregon Humane Society. OHS puppies will be available for adoption.” It runs from 7 to 10pm.

Worthy Brewing (Bend): Today is their Firkin Friday! “A different firkin each week. This week is Worthy IPA with CTZ & Santiam hops. Tapping time is 4pm with $3 firkin pints until it’s gone.”
