Oregon Beer, Belmont StationHere is the news in Oregon beer for this first Tuesday of March, which here in Bend looks to be shaping up to be a nice day. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day, so check back often for the latest news. And if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that posted too.

Belmont Station (Portland) is featuring a canned beer showcase of Founders Brewing beers today, from 5 to 8pm: “Join us for a tasting in the bottle shop as Founders introduces and reintroduces their beers in cans. The tasting will include favorites like All Day Session IPA, Rubaeus Raspberry Ale, Azacca Seasonal IPA and the brand-new Solid Gold Lager.”

Oregon City Brewing is hosting their Charity Pint Night fundraiser today starting at 5pm, benefiting the Gladstone Senior Center: “Let’s help some seniors! Our Charity Pint Night this week benefits the Gladstone Senior Center. From 5 pm to Close on Tuesday March 6, $1 from every OCB pint, soda, taster tray, crowler or growler sold will go to help seniors live better lives through services, programs, and activities. Cheers, Pioneers!”

Block 15 Brewery (Corvallis) has their montly Tap Talks event as well as Dine Out fundraiser today at their south Tap Room: “March’s Tap Talk will focus on the often ignored or seemingly invisible contributions of farmworkers in the agrifood system here in Oregon. Joel will talk about his years of environmental justice work and his efforts advocating for farm and forestry workers. He will highlight their contributions to the productivity of Oregon’s agricultural industry and the many challenges they face in gaining access to basic rights in the workplace and in their communities here in Oregon. This will be an exciting Tap Talk that highlights how the Corvallis community can build a more just local food, wine and beer culture by supporting their immigrant neighbors. March 6th is a Dine Out fundraiser for Causa Oregon—with 10% of Block 15’s food sales for that day going to Causa. Come on out to support the organization.”

Conversion Brewing (Lebanon): They are hosting a “Head to Head” beer pairing/tasting tonight that’s a nice bit of education: “We will pit two beers in the same style against each other and see who comes out on top. This is a blind beer tasting with food pairing and we will have an open discussion about the beers and what we like about them. Cost is $10 and will include 2 samples of Wee Heavy style ale some food pairing samples and a 12 oz pour of a Conversion beer. Must be 21.”

Both products will be released in cans and on draft this Friday, March 9 at 5pm at Kells Brewery, 201 NW 21st Ave. Both products are being introduced in cans for the first time, and join Kells IPA in the brewery’s lineup of six-packs. Kells Tropical Hazy IPA features aromas of fresh peeled citrus and juicy tropical nosed hops, offering the fragrance of passion fruit, tangerine and guava, leading to an ambrosial finish (4.5% ABV, 24 IBU). Kells IPA is golden blonde in color with a juciy perosnailtiy, highlighted by aromas of ripe melon and fresh peeled citrus (6.7%).”

Cascade Brewing (Portland): Tonight’s Tap It Tuesday at the Barrel House at 6pm is featuring Choc-O: “a blend of sour imperial spiced porter and sour blond ales aged in white wine and bourbon barrels for up to two years with heirloom orange zest. Right before packaging we added loads of liquid cacao! Choc-O will remind you of candy with bright citrus aromas and notes of deep, dark chocolate. Everybody loves a chocolate orange!”
