Oregon Beer News, 02/24/2014

Oregon BeerJust another manic Monday… with beer at the end of it! Here’s the Oregon beer news for Monday the 24th. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day, so check back often for the latest news. If you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that updated as well.

This week is apparently Pliny the Younger week, as Portland’s Belmont Station is holding their annual “Pliny the Younger & Elder” event to benefit Habitat for Humanity this week. The event is already sold out, but if you have a ticket, it’s good for one glass each of Pliny the Younger and Elder on either Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, that you can redeem any time on the designated day between noon and 10pm. (The Biercafe and Back Patio will still be open to the public during all of this.) If you have your ticket(s), enjoy!

McMenamins Old St. Francis School (Bend) has their monthly O’Kanes Cask Series release this Wednesday, featuring the company’s winter seasonal, Rise Up Red IRA: “And with that here at OSF we have incorporated this ale into our Firkin keg for a special night! Stuffed with American Oak chips that were soaked in our Pot Still Brandy we hope that this subtle dry ending to such a wonderful ale will inspire all to Rise Up and enjoy life!”

Stickmen Brewery & Skewery (Lake Oswego): Tonight they are hosting a (now monthly) homebrew bottle share, starting at 5:30pm. “You’re invited to share & sample some of Portland’s best home brews! Bring your favorite homebrew down to share with other local home brewers, tour the Stickmen brewery, sample some of our latest releases & enjoy our new Happy Hour food & drink menu.”

Bend Brewing (Bend): They are now bottling their Eclipse CDA in 22-ounce bottles. This joins the lineup of other beers they offer in bottles (Lovely Cherry Baltic Porter, Ching Ching, HopHead, Metolius Golden Ale, Elk Lake IPA, Outback X, Tone Red and Doppelbock) available at the Pub and a few other select locations.
