Oregon BeerHere’s the news in beer from around Oregon for Tuesday, February 23. Don’t forget the Oregon Beer Awards is tonight! As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day, so check back often for the latest news. If you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that updated as well.

Great Notion Brewing (Portland): Coming up on March 5 (a Saturday) Great Notion is hosting a Grand Beer Release event akin to a mini beer fest. From the press release: “Attendees are invited to the brewery from 12PM – 11PM to sample from the brewery’s full beer lineup. Tickets will be sold for $10 at the door, which includes a Great Notion Libbey collector’s glass and 4 tasting tickets. Additional tickets can be purchased for $1 each.” They will have 12 beers pouring.

Vagabond Brewing in Salem is celebrating their second anniversary this Saturday the 27th, starting at 2pm. “Come celebrate 2 years of delicious Vagabond beer on Saturday, February 27th! What better way to celebrate than sumo suit battles, free photo booth pictures, cake, giveaways and live music by the Chris Jones Band!” Congrats to Vagabond on two years, and here’s to many more!

Deschutes Brewery (Bend) has announced their 2016 Street Pub schedule, which kicks off May 15. “The ultimate block party is back! Deschutes Brewery is packing up its pub of epic proportions and bringing it to select cities across the United States for the second annual Street Pub tour. Can’t make it to Oregon to visit one of the brewery’s popular public houses in Bend or Portland? This traveling show brings the pub experience – on which Deschutes was founded – direct to fans with a ginormous, transportable bar that was handcrafted in Central Oregon. In each city, the brewery will partner with a local charity and donate 100 percent of proceeds to help that charity achieve its mission.” The stops are: Arlington, VA, on May 15; Philadelphia, PA, on June 11; Columbus, OH, on July 9; Chicago, IL, on August 6; Twin Cities, MN, on September 10; and Sacramento, CA, on October 8. And… could that first Arlington stop be a clue as to the location of their East Coast brewery?

Oakshire Brewing (Eugene) posted details about their upcoming Hellshire Day on March 11: “Hellshire Day tickets on sale now at the pub and oakbrew.com/hellshire. $25 advance tickets or $30 day of. A few Hellshire Experience tickets are remaining. $75 gets you a behind the scenes look at our barrel program on Friday March 11th, early admission to the festival on Saturday, and the only place to get the special bottle of Hellshire VI: Single Barrel Reserve”

Stickmen Brewing (Lake Oswego) has a new beer on tap: “Sunshine and a new IPA! Stickmen #12 is our latest IPA recipe. A west coast style dry hopped with Citra, Simcoe, and Chinook. Juicy with big aromas of peach and citrus and a slightly piney finish. 7.4% ABV | 69 IBU’s”

Widmer Brothers Brewing (Portland): The New School reports on a collaboration project Widmer is working on with New Seasons Market—Hop Chockers IPA. “Hop Chockers IPA is available now at all New Seasons locations with growler filling stations, as well as the Widmer Brothers Pub. The genesis of the collaboration was a strong, longstanding relationship between the two Portland originals. The beer is available for a limited time on draught only at the Widmer Brothers Pub and all New Seasons locations with beer on tap: Cedar Hills, Grant Park, Nyberg Rivers, Mountain Park, Progress Ridge, Williams, Slabtown, and Woodstock.”
