The Pouring at the Coast Fest Craft Beer Fest in Seaside is taking place on March 15 and 16 this year (Friday and Saturday), and tickets are now on sale now for both the Friday night Brewers Dinner ($50) and the Saturday pouring event tasting packages ($10, $20, $50 packages). Now in its fourth year, Pouring at the Coast is put on by the Seaside Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Oregon Brewers Guild, and last year it drew 18 breweries pouring some 35 beers—this year I’d expect to see more. The Friday dinner is an “Irish Brewers Dinner” offering up 5 courses paired with beers all from Coast breweries. Beer on the Coast, what more could you need?
The Commons Brewery (Portland): Today they are releasing the third bottled beer in their Beetje Series starting at 5:30pm at their brewery—this is the 2013 edition of their Brotherly Love, “our Belgian Dark Strong Ale, Little Brother, aged in second-use Bourbon barrels with Northwest grown sour cherries and Ecuadorian cacao nibs roasted by Woodblock Chocolate in SE Portland.” 50 cases of 750ml bottles were produced this year, selling for $15 bottles and $160 per case. And as part of the release celebration: “On the release day we will have both the 2012 and 2013 versions on tap, as well as chocolate from Woodblock using the same Ecuadorian cacao as the beer.”
Belmont Station (Portland): Today they have a special benefit for Portland radio station KZME from 6 to 9pm that’s definitely worth checking out: “100% of the Sales of a full keg of 10 Barrel’s Hop Rye’it will be donated to Portland’s independent local music radio station 107.1FM KZME. Pints will be $4 and for a mere $6 you can get a pint and keep the 10 Barrel Glass while supplies last. Folks from KZME will also hold a raffle with lots of prizes including CDs and Beer schwag. Gigantic Brewing (Portland) is going to be at the Green Dragon tonight for a meet the brewer and tasting starting at 5pm; I haven’t seen a list yet of what’s being poured, but it’s a good chance to sample some of their excellent beers and meet either or both of brewers Ben Love and Van Havig.
The Bier Stein (Eugene) is hosting a free tasting featuring Utah’s Epic Brewing tonight from 6 to 8pm: “Multi award-winning Epic Brewing from Salt Lake City will be here Thursday night, 2/21 for a tasting! There will be draft specials and a FREE bottle tasting! Event runs from 6-8pm, cheers!”
Worthy Brewing (Bend): They’ve been super busy since they opened, brewing up a storm and more; yesterday they released their new Easy Day Kolsch (which I got to sample during Zwickelmania, it’s pretty tasty). And they also now have several pallets of barrels to have fun with: “What’s more fun than a barrel full of monkey’s? How’s about Wild Turkey barrels full of Lights Out Stout?” That Stout of theirs is already delicious, I can’t wait to see how those barrels treat it!
Crux Fermentation Project (Bend) also has a new beer hitting the taps, one that sounds like one I have to seek out: “Ooohh… something new on tap for us out of the brewhouse: Crux Peated Scottish Ale: 8.5% ABV, 40 IBU. Will you love it? Or, will you hate it? Let us know.” That sounds like a beer that’s right up my alley.
