Oregon BeerHappy Friday, and happy President’s Day weekend! Here’s the Oregon beer news for Friday and the weekend; as usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news, so check back often. And if you have any news to share, please contact me and I can get that updated as well.

Zwickelmania is this Saturday the 16th—tomorrow! This is the 5th annual Zwickelmania, the Oregon Brewers Guild’s statewide open house event, and it promises to be great: some 93 brewery locations participating with free shuttles running in the major metro areas, offering up special tours, tastings, and often more. It runs from 11am to 4pm, and be sure to check out the various guides and shuttle routes on the Zwickelmania page to plan your day accordingly.

Migration Brewing (Portland): Also this Saturday (tomorrow), Migration is turning 3 and celebrating their anniversary all day long with a number of things going on: “Special 3-year anniversary IPA; Limited release bottle sales; Amazing brewery tour and unique beer samples including Clems Cream Ale from an Aquavit barrel from House Spirits; Swag give aways; Live bands throughout the day; Vintage Migration ales saved for the anniversary will also be served.” Be sure to stop by and celebrate with Migration if you get the chance. Congrats!

Fort George Brewing (Astoria): This Saturday is Fort George’s Festival of Dark Arts event that anchors their February-long Stout Month; this year’s event is taking over their entire city block with their “Carnival of Stout” festivities (fire dancers, live music, belly dancers, artists of various kinds) and there will be plenty of stout beer on hand including something like 14 of Fort George’s own brews. It’s going to be an amazing day if you can make it to Astoria! Admission is free, and it’s $8 for the tasting glass and $1 per sample.

McMenamins Thompson Brewery (Salem) is continuing with their “I Heart Beer” taster tray today: “To celebrate Valentine’s, and with a nod to Zwickelmania, brewer Jen Kent will present guests with a special taster tray of several seasonal beers for $7.50. Seasonal beers include Cupid’s Curve (chocolate vanilla porter on Nitro), Red Riser on Whiskey Oak Spiral, Citra IPA, Dr. Who, Ginger Golden, and Raspberry Stout!”
