Oregon BeerHere’s the news in Oregon beer for Hump Day, Wednesday the 3rd of February. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news, so check back often for updates. If you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that updated as well.

GoodLife Brewing (Bend): Today at Roscoe’s in Portland is the first in GoodLife’s Brewshed® Session Ale release parties: “GoodLife Brewing will be donating 1% of all sales to the Brewshed® Alliance, split between to the two nonprofits. The beer will be available February through June, so buy a beer and support conservation for those four months! We’ll be giving out Brewshed® Session Ale shirts throughout the night and raffling off other GoodLife swag, so we’ll see you there!”

The Green Dragon (Portland): Today’s Green Dragon Brew Crew release is “A Heartwarming Ale For February” — their February Ale: “February may not be the cruelest month, but it can sure feel like it. We just slogged through two months of winter and, despite what the groundhog says, have two more months to go. February is to winter what Wednesday is to the work week. This week’s release from the Green Dragon Brew Crew is the perfect antidote for the February blues. February Ale is a heart warmer of a brew, with aromas of spicy orange peel, lemon zest and caramel biscuits, as well as flavors of chocolate milk, roasted hazelnuts, and caramel wafers.” The release starts at 5pm.

Belmont Station (Portland) is hosting a tasting with San Diego’s Green Flash Brewing today from 5 to 7pm: “Join Green Flash for a tasting their two new brews: Tangerine Soul Style IPA and Passion Fruit Kicker, plus a selection from their Cellar 3 Barrel Aged series. We will also be pouring Natura Morta Cherry Barrel-Aged Saison in the tap room!”

The Platypus Pub (Bend) is hosting a dual beer tasting tonight with Springfield’s Hop Valley Brewing and Pacific City’s Pelican Brewing: “Ralph Beattie from Pelican and Brandon Ross from Hop Valley will be here Wednesday night at 6:00 for a tasting. These two go way back with each other and are very knowledgeable and entertaining. Brandon will be sampling a couple new beers which will also be on tap. Neon Prince Session IPA and Galacticos Milk Stout. Ralph will be sampling Cold Coast Pilsner and Mother of All Storms will be available for purchase.” It takes place from 6 to 8pm tonight.

Saraveza (Portland): Tonight from 6 to 9pm they are hosting the sour beer “Know Your ABCs” with Alameda Brewing, Base Camp Brewing, and Coalition Brewing: “Alameda, Base Camp, and Coalition have teamed up to teach you your ABCs! Each brewery brewed a different sour fruit beer and we’ll be pouring all three: A is for Apricot Tart Ale, B is for Boysenberry Brett Ale, and C is for Cherry Sour Ale.”

Les Caves (Corvallis): It’s not beer related but it is part of Block 15’s Bourbon Month: their monthly tasting series taking place tonight is featuring 4 Spirits Distillery, from 4:30 to 6:30pm: “Join us on the first Wednesday of every month, from 4:30 – 6:30, for our Monthly Tasting Series. Each tasting features standout offerings from a local brewery, distillery, cidery, winery & more, alongside small plates crafted by the Caves kitchen. Our next installment will feature spirits and artisanal cocktails from local distillery 4 Spirits, located right here in Corvallis. Join us on February 3 for great company, delicious food and drink, and the perfect kickoff to Bourbon Month!”

Tonight in Hood River at the Columbia Center for the Arts is a history presentation on beer in the Columbia Center Gorge with Logsdon Farmhouse Ales founder Dave Logsdon: Sense of Place: The Hoppy History of Craft Brewing in the Gorge. “Logsdon will speak on Wednesday, February 3, at Columbia Center for the Arts. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. for a sampling of local beer by Brewers in the GOrge (BIG), and the lecture begins at 7 p.m. Gorge Owned’s (GO!) Sense of Place is an annual lecture series that seeks to foster a deeper understanding of and connection to our landscape and to one another. $5 to get in, free for GO! members.” This sounds pretty fascinating, one event I wish I could make it to.
