Oregon Beer News, 02/03/2014

Oregon BeerHere is the news in Oregon beer for the first Monday in February, the 3rd. I’m running a little behind today but I’ll still be periodically updating this post throughout the rest of the day with the latest news as I find it, so check back often. If you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that updated as well.

Worthy Brewing (Bend): This week they are gearing up for their first anniversary taking place this  Saturday the 8th, offering specials all week long starting tomorrow with the release of GTX, their Go Time Pale which was their very first beer one year ago. Saturday’s party kicks off at 5pm with a heated tent in the beer garden, live music, special beer flights, and lawn games for kids (it’s all ages with free admission). Look for the specials this week and don’t miss the party!

Belmont Station (Portland): Tomorrow they are hosting the release for Midnight Sun‘s Arctic Devil Barleywine (a great beer): “Midnight Sun Brewing has been making awesome beer in the great state of Alaska for nearly 20 years. And now’s the time for the highly anticipated Arctic Devil to be unleashed upon the world! In the biercafe, we will be pouring the Arctic Devil Barley Wine, plus we will have a sneak preview of their new PleasureTown IPA and a rare keg of BonFire, their winter warmer brewed with anise, chicory and cherries. In the bottle shop, we will hold a tasting of several Midnight Sun beers in cans, plus Arctic Devil in bottles will be for sale in the beer store.”

The Bier Stein (Eugene): Among events they’ve lined up this week include a tap takeover with the new(ish) Viking Braggot Company (based in Eugene) on Wednesday, and a four-year vertical tasting of Deschutes Brewery‘s The Abyss lined up for Thursday! It’s a good week to be in Eugene.

Standing Stone Brewing (Ashland) has their “brewpub favorite”, Hop Night CDA, back on tap: “Hop Night balances the piney, citrus like characteristics of an IPA without overpowering the smooth, roasted malts used in the brewing process. You will notice prominent hop-forward notes with a creamy smooth body and a medium mouthfeel.” It’s 6% abv and 65 IBUs.

Full Sail Brewing (Hood River): This Thursday, the 6th, is Full Sail’s Bourbon Aged Imperial Stout release, and they’re celebrating with a special horizontal tasting at their Pub starting at 5pm. “For 12 months our Imperial Stout has been aging in three types of bourbon whiskey casks — Maker’s Mark, Heaven Hill, and Four Roses. Our final release is a blend of all three, but we reserved some of each from the individual barrels for a stellar horizontal tasting. Compare the distilleries’ barrels to the final blend with us at our Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout release party.” This is definitely not one to miss if you’re in the Gorge come Thursday.
