Oregon Beer, Oakshire Brewing

Here is the news in Oregon beer for this Tuesday, February 19. As always I will be updating this post throughout the day with the latest news as I find it, so check back often. And if you have news to share, please feel free to contact me anytime.

Oakshire Brewing (Eugene) recently collaborated on a brew with Sunriver Brewing and Ruse Brewing, and for today’s Tuesday beer release at the Public House, it goes on tap: “Green Noise: the daily soundtrack that nature plays. You can try this beautiful hazy double IPA this Tuesday at our Public House and, while they last, take a 4-pack home with you. Thanks to Ruse and Sunriver for collaborating with us!”

Baerlic Brewing (Portland) has a can release today featuring Green Matter Double IPA: “Green Matter Double IPA is easy on the bitterness an yuge on the flavor and aroma. Pushing 6lbs of hops/bbl of El Dorado, Centennial and Columbus for a jump out of the glass tropical fruit candy, resinous grapefruit and a fairly light dank top-note.” The beer is 8% ABV.

Deschutes Brewery (Bend): Tuesdays are Community Pints days at the Deschutes locations, where $1 from every pint sold goes to benefit a local non-profit organization. In Bend for the month of February, the Pub and Tasting Room are benefiting ASK (A Smile for Kids). I haven’t seen what org the Portland Pub is donating to this month, but swing in to one of the locations and help out with a pint or three.

Oregon City Brewing has its Pints for Charity tonight starting at 5pm, benefitng VFW Post 1324. “Come join VFW 1324 members and friends at Oregon City Brewing for their Tuesday Charity Pint Night. OCB will donate $1 for every OCB pint, taster, soda, crowler, and growler purchased to our VFW Post to help support Veterans in our community. Minors are allowed, so bring the family down and enjoy some great beer and soda. Olympia Provisions Public House Kitchen is onsite and has a full menu so come hungry and thirsty.”

Ecliptic Brewing (Portland) announced the release of its latest specialty beer, Star Party Lavender & Lemon Brut IPA. From the press release: “Ecliptic Brewing’s latest Special Release beer is an exploration of a popular IPA style and a play on one of their recent crowd-pleasing releases. Inspired by flavors of spring, Star Party Lavender & Lemon Brut IPA is bursting with floral and citrus notes that nicely complement the Lemondrop and experimental hops. Effervescent and refreshing, this beer is the perfect way to usher in a warmer season. Star Party Lavender & Lemon Brut IPA will release in late March. It will be released in both draft and 500ml bottles throughout Ecliptic Brewing’s distribution network.” The beer is 8% ABV.

Newport’s Rogue Ales announced its latest beer, a fruited ale named Rhubarb Schmubarb. From the announcement: “Rhubarb Schmubarb, Rogue’s newest beer is a fruited ale with a funny name that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Rhubarb Schmubarb highlights Oregon-grown ingredients and is a little sweet, a little tart and ideal for late-spring and early summer sipping. Delightfully tart from the rhubarb, but balanced by the sweetness of Oregon strawberries, Rhubarb Schmubarb brings the iconic flavors of summer to any barbeque, picnic or hike. Rhubarb Schmubarb is available from March–June in 4-pack 16 ounce cans and on draft.”

Montavilla Brew Works (Portland) has a vintage, limited beer tapped that won’t last long: “We recently tapped the last 5 gallons of our 2016 Vintage Belgian Tripel and it has aged gracefully! Pilsner malt embraces a firm noble hop spiciness, while aromas of pears and apples give way to a pleasant warming experience. Get it soon…and vive le belgique!”

Deep Space Brewing (Hillsboro) highlights a Scottish ale it has available: “Meet the beers! Our Marshian Peat is a Scottish Ale with 5.4% ABV and 28 IBU. Biscuit and sweet malt flavors are augmented by a smooth peat flavor. A slight caramel and nice body is experienced with this “neat” Scottish-style ale. Slàinte mhath!”

And Lebanon’s Conversion Brewing just tapped a new beer: “Demi Blonde! We just tapped this yummy blonde ale! She’s aged in elegant Oak barrels with heavenly organic cocoa nibs. She’s a hott little blonde & you should totally come ask her out. Just sayin’.”

The New School reports that Portland’s Scout Beer has closed its Hawthorne taproom and brewery location—though the business itself isn’t going anywhere. “Scout Beer, the multi-location brewery and taproom business that started as as beer cart, has closed its first brick-and-mortar location and home of its brewery at 1516 SE 10th in Portland. Scout started in 2009 with a beer cart at the now-defunct Good Food Here food cart pod and relocated to the Tidbit Food Cart Pod on SE Division, which has also since closed. In 2016 Scout opened its first brick-and-mortar location behind The Toffee Club at SE 10th and Hawthorne Blvd. and has now sold that spot and the brewery to a new TBA operation. However, the Scout Beer taprooms and campfire-themed beers will live on, perhaps in even more locations.” Scout will continue to brew its beer with Portland U-Brew.

Gigantic Brewing (Portland) has a new beer out for its First Taste Tuesday: “Today’s #firsttastetuesday is the return of Crystal Cloud, an IPA so hazy it has turned clear! The flavor is juicy and soft, chock full of citra, mosaic and crystal hops. Label art by Jud Bergeron Sculpture.”

Rogue’s Eastside Pub in Portland is highlighting a new beer as well: “Come try our newest on tap! St Chucks Smoke is our version of a classic German Marzen lager. Brewed in honor of one of Rogues first employees Chuck Linquist, this delicious ale features rich notes and caramel with a lingering smoky finish.”
