Oregon Beer, White Water TaphouseHappy Monday and the start of a busy week! Mardi Gras, Valentine’s Day, and Zwickelmania all take place this week, with beer events to match. Here’s the roundup of beer news to kick off this February 12; as usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news as I find it, so check back often. And if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that posted too.

Bend’s White Water Taphouse is hosting a Valentine’s Brewer ‘Speed Dating’ Style Beer Tasting with 10 Barrel Brewing tonight from 6:30pm to 9pm: “This Valentine’s Day, we invite you to ‘date’ our brewers! Join 6 brewers from 10 Barrel Brewing to taste their favorite beers for our version of speed dating. You will ‘date’ your brewer in small groups to learn about their small-batch beer along side a unique cheese & chocolate pairing carefully chosen by each brewer to compliment their brew. Their goal is to win you over, with their beer & themselves. Vote for your favorite brewer/beer to help them win a special prize. Special gifts to take home with you, along with raffles. Limited to 25 people!”

Zwickelmania is back and takes places this Saturday, February 17 for the Portland Metro area! The statewide free brewery tour event takes place from 11am to 4pm, and participating breweries offer beer tastings and often more, with meet the brewer events, brewery tours, food and beer pairings, and so on. Here’s the link to the Facebook event for Portland Metro; plan accordingly because there are a lot of breweries to potentially visit! Also be sure to make use of the free transportation for the day. And, if you’re so inclined, you can also play Zwickel Bingo (which I’ll be updating in time for 2018).

Bazi Bierbrasserie (Portland) is hosting Brewpublic‘s annual My Beery Valentine this Wednesday (Valentine’s Day of course!) from 5 to 9pm: “Spend your Valentine’s Day with a decadent craft beer, dessert beer pairings and specialty themed cocktails when BREWPUBLIC’s 9th annual My Beery Valentine returns to Bazi Bierbrasserie on Wednesday, February 14th. Taking place from 5:00 to 9:00pm, My Beery Valentine will feature an amazing Valentine’s Day lineup, featuring Evil Twin/Amager Bryghus From Amager with Love, Alvinne Wild West Grape Edition, Burnside Brewing Sweet Heat, Oedipus Brewing Polyamorie, and more to be announced!”

Alameda Brewing (Portland) has a new canned beer out: “NEW CAN ALERT! Admiration IPA, with copious amounts of Mosaic, El Dorado, and Idaho 7 hops, is in cans for the first time ever! We’re really excited to see where you take this hoppy goodness now that it’s mobile!”

Hopworks Urban Brewery (Portland): They are bringing their Community Tap program back this year: “Each month we donate 1% of all our pubs’ pint proceeds to an organization that we admire and respect. For February, when you drink beer at our pubs you’re helping support Friends of Trees – Friends of Trees brings people together to plant and care for city trees and green spaces in Pacific Northwest communities. Since Friends of Trees was founded in 1989, they have planted nearly half a million trees and native plants. Come in and grab a beer for Friends of Trees!”

John Day’s 1188 Brewing has a new beer on tap today: “Another new beer on tap! Shannonigans Oatmeal Stout, 7% ABV. See you at the pub!”

Viking Braggot Company (Eugene) announced news about a second location! “We’ve got some news to share with you, folks! We’ve been working and working for a few months on our 2ND LOCATION! And if you’ve driven down Willamette since Thursday our new sign here may already be a familiar sight to you. There’s still plenty of work to be done, but we’re expecting to be open in the 3rd week of March at 2490 Willamette St. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available and we’ll see you soon, Southtowne! SKOL!” Congrats!
