Oregon BeerHere’s the Oregon beer news for Hump Day, Wednesday the 29th of January. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news, so check back often for updates. And if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that updated as well.

Sky High Brewing (Corvallis) has their Mountainous Stout release party taking place today from 4 to 6pm: “We got shwag to raffle away! Posters, Growlers, T-Shirts and Sky High Brewing Logo Glasses. Hoppy Hour Pricing too! Come join the party! This fabulous oatmeal stout boasts a roasted coffee nose and velvety mouth feel. Tickle your taste buds with flavors of dark chocolate, toffee, caramel, and Grandma’s old-time oatmeal. Black Patent and Chocolate malts from the UK combine with Crosby Magnum and Perle hops to create a peak experience.”

McMenamins Old St. Francis School (Bend) has a special cask beer release today beginning at 5pm featuring Grandma’s Vanilla Oatmeal Porter: “If your grandma was anything like my grandma she could cook up a storm. Usually all from scratch too. One of my favorite baked goods my grandma made was oatmeal cookies with chocolate chips. This special Firkin version has an added kick of vanilla bean to enhance your flavor experience. Made with dark crystal malts which gives a hint of chocolate and raisin. A plethora of rolled oats were also added for a chewy mouth feel as well as a smooth, melt in your mouth concession. The Firkin doesn’t always last long and with a tribute to Grandma’s cooking it may be gone fast. Cheers to Grandmas everywhere!”

McMenamins Cornelius Pass Roadhouse (Hillsboro): They have a special beer tasting tonight featuring three cellar-aged beers: Red Giant Double Red Ale, Silvercone IPL, and Nehalem Lager. The red was aged one year and is 8.26% abv; the Silvercone IPL was aged 7 months and is 7.48% abv; and the Nehalem Lager was aged four months and is 5.16% abv. The tasting starts at 6pm and lasts until the beer is gone.

Full Sail Brewing (Hood River): It’s that time of year again—or rather, every other year—Full Sail is releasing their 2014 vintage Bourbon Aged Imperial Stout in early February. “This beer was brewed in December of 2012 and aged in Kentucky bourbon casks from Heaven Hill, Four Roses, and Makers Mark. This extended aging presents hints of vanilla and allows the Imperial Stout to pick up the flavors of the wood, bourbon, and oak. The aging accentuates the robust character of the Imperial Stout and brings out the depth of flavor from the bourbon creating chocolate and caramel notes and an overall elegantly sophisticated beer.” It’s 9.84% abv and will be available (as always) in 22-ounce bottles. Look for it soon!
