Oregon BeerHere’s the Oregon beer news for the start of the final week in January. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news as I find it, so check back often. And if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that posted as well.

Belmont Station (Portland): Today is the final day of their Bigger, Badder, Blacker Week, and they’re going big with a Goose Island Bourbon County Stout Day kicking off at 5pm: “A very limited number of bottles of Goose Island Bourbon County Stout and two other rare BCS beers recently was sent to Oregon for the first time in two years. Because of that, and the very high demand for this delicious beer, we want to make it so as many people as possible can enjoy it. So, instead of selling it to the few customers who were lucky enough to make it into the shop first, we will be pouring flights from bottles of the Bourbon County Stout, the Bourbon County Backyard Rye and the Bourbon County Coffee Stout on our last day of Bigger Badder Blacker Week. Come early, because these beers aren’t expected to last! (Of course, we will have some other great Bigger Badder Blacker beers on too!)”

Sky High Brewing (Corvallis) has a new beer release coming out Wednesday: Mountainous Stout. The party runs from 4 to 6pm. “We got shwag to raffle away! Posters, Growlers, T-Shirts and Sky High Brewing Logo Glasses. Hoppy Hour Pricing too! Come join the party! This fabulous oatmeal stout boasts a roasted coffee nose and velvety mouth feel. Tickle your taste buds with flavors of dark chocolate, toffee, caramel, and Grandma’s old-time oatmeal. Black Patent and Chocolate malts from the UK combine with Crosby Magnum and Perle hops to create a peak experience.”

Bend’s Boneyard Beer and Baker City’s Barley Brown’s Brewpub got together this weekend over in Baker City to brew up a collaboration beer: a Double IPA (of course!) and a comment by Boneyard on the post specifies the hops: “Citra , Centennial and Soarchi Ace @ 5#per barrel”  That’s a big beer, and hopefully this will make it over to Bend!

BunsenBrewer (Sandy): This brand-new brewery celebrated its grand opening on Saturday, and sounds pretty unique and cool from Ezra’s writeup. Everything is themed (from what I can tell) like a high school science lab, down to the tables, chairs, and stools, beers are served in beakers and flasks (specially branded, of course), and lab-coat-wearing bartenders. Should be a cool place to visit, and a good output for craft beer in Sandy.

Breakside Brewery (Portland): The release of their Salted Caramel Stout is taking place this Thursday, the 30th, at Belmont Station: “A collaboration with Salt & Straw Ice Cream, Salted Caramel Stout has been one of our most popular draft seasonal brews now for the first time available in bottles. A rich stout base mixes with sea salt and specially made salted. this beer is rich and balanced with a luscious caramel flavor in the mid palate, a hint of salt in the finish, and a smooth roastiness.” The party is from 5 to 8pm. Look for the Breakside crew to be on hand.
