Oregon BeerHappy Hump Day for this January 18! Here is the news in beer from around the state; as usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news, so check back often for updates. If you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that updated as well.

Ashland’s Standing Stone Brewing‘s Winter Brewer’s Dinner takes place tonight, and if you were lucky enough to snag the last two tickets when I posted on Monday then you’ll be enjoying a five course beer pairing dinner. Unfortunately I checked and they appear to be sold out, but if you’re still interested try calling the pub at 541-261-0021 to see if you can still get in.

McMenamins Cedar Hills (Beaverton) has their Liquid Longevity beer tasting today from 5 to 8pm, featuring Billy’s Barrel-Aged Black Widow: “Each deep-black goblet of this McMenamins seasonal is packed full of the robust notes afforded by generous amounts of Black and Roast Malts, and further spirited with ethereal wisps of caramel and licorice. Both substantial and sublime, this elixir is sure to slake the most fiendish of thirsts. This particular batch of Black Widow, having been aged in a Billy Whiskey barrel, contains additional notes of molasses, hazelnuts and oak. This is the perfect brew to keep you cozy in these freezing temperatures.”

The Bier Stein (Eugene) is welcoming New Belgium Brewing and their new beers tonight from 5 to 8pm: “Come join one of the country’s few employee-owned breweries for the release of a handful of new beers: Dayblazer (12 & 24oz cans) and Citradelic Lime (12oz bottles) Plus some draught: Voodoo Ranger, Voodoo 8 Hop Pale, Voodoo Imperial IPA, and Tartastic, a lemon ginger sour ale. Beer Ranger Ryan will be pouring free samples, and giving away New Belgium gear.”

Portland’s Belmont Station is welcoming Ninkasi Brewing tonight for a tasting and Believer night: “What do you believe in? Ninkasi is raising funds for three different nonprofits with every case or keg of Believer Double Red Ale sold. Here at Belmont Station, we are going to help them with this noble cause with a tasting among Ninkasi’s core beers and Believer in the bottle shop, and we will be pouring Believer in the tap room. Read more about the fundraiser and the nonprofit recipients here.” That runs from 5 to 7pm.

The Rogue Eastside Pub (formerly The Green Dragon, in Portland) has the latest Green Dragon Brew Crew release tonight, part of their “Big Ass Beer Month,” featuring Maude (Belgian Dark Strong Ale with Spices): “The original Maude was the Green Dragon Brew Crew’s contribution to the 2014 Portland Cheers to Belgian Beers celebration. Tonight’s release is the Crew’s third iteration of this complex beer that is rich and warm in color with delightful layers of spicy notes of orange, coriander and pink peppercorn this Belgian Dark Strong Ale is a warming complement to a chilly Portland evening.” It’s 9.2% abv so plenty big! Beer gets tapped at 5pm.

Crux Fermentation Project (Bend): Their Holy Hopsapalooza single hop beer extravaganza continues today in honor of the American Hop Convention in town. If you’re looking for more IPAs and hoppy beers than you can drink in one day, head on over.

Three Mugs Brewing (Hillsboro): Tonight is their Randall Night from 6 to 9pm where they get crazy with a randall to infuse their beers with all sorts of things, “from hops to coconut shavings and more.”

Portland’s Breakside Brewery will be at Orenco Taphouse in Hillsboro to celebrate their Tall Guy IPA: “Breakside’s draft-only ode to the Citra hop! Citra has soft tropical notes, clean orange, a touch of juicy fruit, and a hard-to-pin-down quality that reminds many of Fruity Pebbles! 6.9% ABV, 57 IBUs, on tomorrow at 3:00 PM!”
