Cascade Lakes Brewing (Redmond): Today kicks off the start of Cascade Lakes’ 20th anniversary celebrations, starting at their Seventh Street Brew House in Redmond and taking place all day today: “Celebrating the world premier of our 20th anniversary IPA and 20 years of brewing in Central Oregon. Beers priced like it’s ’94 ($2.75 CLBC beers). Two lucky winners get free beer for a year! Free samples of our 20th anniversary IPA, free koozies while supplies last!”
McMenamins Bagdad Pub (Portland): Tomorrow, Tuesday the 14th, they are having a special beer release of the Edgefield’s Northen Light sour black pumpkin ale, starting at 5pm. “This lively beer is a barrel aged sour black ale with squash added to celebrate the dark winter days. It pours a jet black with a fluffy white head. You will notice aromas of spice, pumpkin and roasted malt. Flavors of squash mingle with a subtle tartness from extended barrel aging. Gather around, pucker up and enjoy some Northern Lights.” And when the keg is gone, it’s gone.
Migration Brewing (Portland): The New School has details on Migrations newly-revealed expansion, featuring much more window dining space, a second bar, and a full kitchen (not just a tapas bar). Look for some fun stuff coming up next month too: “Beer fans will want to check out the space on February 15th which doubles as Migration’s venue for Oregon’s annual Zwickelmania event and the brewery’s 4th anniversary party, which will serve as a trial debut of Migration’s new kitchen menu.”
The first ever Big Woody kicks off this weekend in Portland! Inspired by Bend’s hugely successful Little Woody, the Big Woody is taking place at the Leftbank Annex Friday the 17th and Saturday the 18th, and features all beers that have been barrel- or wood-aged, as well as a selection of whiskeys to sample (which are also, not coincidentally, barrel-aged spirits). If you would like to go act now: “Entry to the festival is $40 and includes 20 tasting tokens and a commemorative snifter glass. Space is limited and tickets are only good for the evening purchased. Tickets are on sale here.” There is also an opportunity to win two tickets for Friday here that you won’t want to miss!
The White Owl Social Club (Portland) this week has a great-sounding event on Thursday you’re going to want to check out: the 2014 Sierra Nevada Bigfoot Barleywine release party. It starts at 6:30pm and sounds pretty crazy and fun: in addition to the Bigfoot Barleywine there will be other Sierra Nevada beers on tap (of course) but the White Owl will also be hosting a couple of bigfoot (as in “sasquatch”) experts and analysts to talk about the mythical creature. Beer and bigfoot—should make for a lively evening!
McMenamins Old St. Francis School (Bend): This Saturday the 18th they are hosting a special “High Gravity Extravaganza” mini-fest featuring a whole slew of guest breweries (both other McMenamins breweries and Central Oregon breweries!) bringing strong, high-gravity beers, all day long from 1pm to 10pm. There will be live music as well throughout the day. The current brewery and beer list is posted here (PDF) and looks fanstastic, and there will be chance to meet many of the brewers from 2 to 5pm. This one is worth coming to Bend for.
