Oregon BeerHappy hump day! Here’s the news in Oregon beer for Wednesday, January 7. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news, so check back often for updates. And if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that updated as well.

This news has been unfolding in slow motion for me, but I think I finally have a handle on it: the collaboration beer between Terminal Gravity and GoodLife was brewed here in Bend yesterday, and is called G-two Imperial Red Ale. Tomorrow (Thursday) the GoodLife brew team will be on their way to Enterprise to brew up another version there. I hope this makes it to bottles (or cans)!

Culmination Brewing (Portland): This up-and-coming brewery is getting close; they posted an update with photos on Facebook this morning: “The brewhouse has been delivered! Looking more and more like a brewery in here! We should be brewing beer by the end of Jan. The taproom also coming together. Hoping to get the taproom open next week!” Interestingly, their “about” on FB indicates they plan to be a beer and sake brewery. If they truly are licensed and brewing by the end of the month, we should see beer available by the end of February (when they are planning their grand opening).

Bend Brewing (Bend): Their ever-popular Ching Ching is back on tap, and available in 22-ounce bottles! If you get the chance to visit anytime soon, be sure to stop in for a glass.

Mazama Brewing (Corvallis): Their second annual Dark Days Winter Ale Festival is taking place this Saturday, January 10, from 2 to 10pm at their brewery. “Get out of the cold, blustery weather, and warm up in our brewery with over 15 Beers, Ciders, and Meads from our favorite Oregon Fermentors including special Mazama releases and free tastings from HOTV Homebrewers and Stowaway Spirtis. There will be a FREE shuttle provided by Ale Ways that will pickup at LaSells Stewart Center and drop off at Mazama Brewing every 20 minutes or so. Entrance is $15 and includes a commemorative pint glass and tasting tokens.” Take note, it is ages 21 and over only.

The Green Dragon (Portland): Tonight starting at 5pm, they have a Green Dragon Brew Crew release for a big, dark imperial stout: Descent Into Darkness. “This bold Russian Imperial Stout, was aged for two months in Rogue Whiskey Barrels, and then cellared for year. At 9.8% ABV, a pint of this will help your descent into darkness tonight. Darkness falls at 5pm, Crew leads the way at 6pm.” A pint? Wow. Part of their Big Ass Beer Month.
