Oregon BeerHere’s the beer news from around Oregon for Thursday, the 3rd of January. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post with the lastest news as I find it, so check back often. And if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that updated as well.

Worthy Brewing (Bend) brewed up their third batch of beer yesterday: a stout! You’ll remember that I profiled their very first brewday back on December 18th; and on the 26th they posted a status about brewing their second batch, an IPA. So they should have at least these three beers ready for their soft opening in a month, and quite likely they’ll have more brewing by their grand opening on February 26—can’t wait to try some!

Stickmen Brewery & Skewery (Lake Oswego) is slowly rolling out (new) beers of their own, and yesterday they tapped their Saison—a “fruity but dry interpretation of the style.” I believe they’re still waiting on additional brewing equipment but it’s nice to see some small-batch beers hitting the taps.

McMenamins Old Church & Pub (Wilsonville) has their meet the brewer and special tasting of Feliz Navi-Klaus today, starting at 5pm: “This “winter warmer” was brewed for the Fiesta Bowl, which will be showing in the Old Church. It has Habaneros, caramel and piney spice on the nose with a subtle warm, toasty chocolate taste on the palate. The use of Habaneros and brewers gold hops give it an expressive and spicey character which is well balanced by the chocolate and crystal malt.” One I wish I could try! But when it’s gone, it’s gone.

McMenamins Fulton Pub & Brewery (Portland) has their own limited-edition tasting today of Cinnamon Bear Imperial Porter, also beginning at 5pm: “This ale is an Imperial Porter infused with cold pressed espresso, licorice root, and cinnamon stick.  There are layers upon layers of flavor in this big and rich brew.  Chocolate, malty sweetness, coffee, and of course cinnamon are all front and center here.  Hops play a backing role in this beer making for a mild herbal quality in the finish.”

Golden Valley Brewery (McMinnville): The new release of their Irish Red that I reported yesterday for today has been moved, to next Thursday: “Next Thursday Jan 10th, we will have a limited amount of an all new brew – an Irish Red. Imported Irish malts creates a complex flavor profile that is balanced and enhanced by the use of mild Noble hops. We’ll be tapping the keg at 4 with $2 beers until the first keg blows!” (That was from the Beaverton location, but I’m assuming it will show up at the McMinnville one as well—more as it gets closer.)

Base Camp Brewing (Portland) is having a tasting at Gresham’s The Hoppy Brewer today from 5 to 7pm: “Krister Balme will be pouring 4 of our beers at The Hoppy Brewer from 5 to 7pm. Stop in and say hi, score some delicious free suds, and pick up a few bottles for the weekend.” (via Oregon Beer) This would be a good chance to try out one of Portland’s newest breweries.
