Oregon Beer, Ecliptic Brewing

Here is the news in Oregon beer for this Tuesday, January 15, rounding up newsworthy bits from around the state. As always I’ll be updating this post periodically throughout the day, so check back occasionally to catch up on the latest news.

Ecliptic Brewing (Portland) is hosting its House That Beer Built benefit fundraiser today, raising money for Habitat for Humanity all day long: “Ecliptic Brewing is proud to partner with Habitat for Humanity Portland/Metro East. 10% of the day’s pub sales will go to benefit Habitat for Humanity’s work in the Portland Metro area. Let’s raise a glass and build a house!” Make sure to stop in for a beer and a meal to help out a great cause.

Portland’s Imperial Bottle Shop welcomes Bend Brewing tonight for an aptly-named Bend Brewing Night starting at 5pm: “Meet Kamden from Bend Brewing Co. and try some of their great brews, including: Razz Tafari Sour Ale with lemongrass and raspberries, Tropic Pines IPA, and Experimental IPA hopped with Experimental hop 06297, Huell Melon, Comet and Hallertau Blanc hops.”

Deschutes Brewery (Bend): Tuesdays are Community Pints days, where $1 from every pint of beer sold at each Deschutes location goes to benefit a local non-profit. In Bend this month, the Pub and the Tasting Room are raising money for Family Kitchen. I don’t have details on what organization the Portland Pub is raising funds for, but it’s a good cause all around, so stop in and help out with a pint or three.

Oregon City Brewing has its Charity Pint Night today starting at 5pm, benefiting Rett Syndrome Research Trust: “The Rett Syndrome Research Trust (RSRT) was launched in 2008 with a singular goal: to drive the development of treatments and cures for Rett Syndrome and related MECP2 disorders.” $1 from every pint sold will benefit RSRT.

The Bier Stein (Eugene) is hosting Beer Flight School with Aaron Brussat tonight starting at 6pm, featuring Sour & Wild Ales: “Join us for Flight School with Aaron Brussat on Tuesday, January 15th! Aaron is a Certified Cicerone, beer writer, homebrewer, and editor of the Northwest Brewing News. Flight School is for anybody who wants to expand their knowledge of beer! Ready to get funky? Between two classic Belgian styles–Lambic and Flanders Red–and two bold American Wild Ales, this Beer Flight School will tingle your taste buds. Ever wondered how many organisms it takes to ferment a lambic? And who is this guy named Brett, anyhow? Come hang out, drink a flight, and get all those questions answered.”

Hopworks Urban Brewery (Portland) is opening a location in the Portland Airport, and the grand opening is tomorrow (Wednesday the 16th): “On Wednesday, January 16th we welcome all travelers to join us for the Grand Opening of our PDX Airport location in Concourse E. Join us for theribbon cutting, live music, food, and a toast to celebrate our newest location.” According to the media advisory I received, attendees will meet at the clocktower in the Clocktower Plaza and “Attendees should arrive at 10:45 a.m. for an escort beyond the security checkpoint to the event that runs from 11 a.m.-noon.”

McMenamins Edgefield (Troutdale) is hosting a Friends & Family Night fundraiser at its Power Station Pub to benefit Gresham Barlow Education Foundation: “In addition to this emphasis on supporting local communities in which McMenamins has a presence, we focus contributions on three key areas: education, human support services and community development. So on Friends and Family Nights, bring everyone you know out for burgers, beers, wine, cocktails, salads, sandwiches, tater tots, the day’s specials and more – because at the end of the night, 50% of the evening’s total sales are donated to the beneficiary! The more you order, the more is earned for a good cause!” It runs from 5pm until closing.

Ruse Brewing (Portland) has a new “breakfast brew” on tap today: “To celebrate the lengthening of the days we have created a bodacious breakfast brew. Stages of Dawn is filled with Santa Luzia @coavacoffee, Ugandan vanilla and a massive amount of oats. On tap today at 3!”

Yachats Brewing partnered with Ninkasi Brewing to brew Resilience IPA and today it went on tap at Ninkasi: “The Resilience IPA colab with Ninkasi, is NOW on tap and pouring at their taphouse location at 272 Van Buren St in Eugene!! We will also have it on tap and ready to flow, here at our brewery when we reopen this Friday, the 18th!”
