Deschutes Brewery pub expansion

The other day Deschutes Brewery hinted on Twitter about big plans for 2011, and yesterday the press release hit the wires: they’re planning on expanding their downtown Bend pub into the empty lot next door. (This lot has been vacant for several years now.) Plans include a two-story layout with a balcony and additional seating, plus the opportunity to expand their kitchen by offering a bakery and a meat-curing operation.

(I haven’t seen any word on whether their brewing capacity at the pub will be increased.)

This is definitely a good move, as the pub is often packed and there’s usually a wait to get a table. And the vacant lot next to their building was something of an eyesore, so it’s a win-win all around.

Now, if only Bend Brewing Company could get their hands on the vacant lot next to their building…
