Changes to Zwickelmania for 2017 — now two weekends

Zwickelmania 2017 - coming February

Apparently Oregon’s annual Zwickelmania event which takes place every February during President’s Day weekend has grown big enough that the Oregon Brewers Guild has split it into two weekends for 2017: for the Portland Metro area, it takes place on February 18, and for the rest of the state it will be February 25.

Here’s the press release:

What
Zwickelmania! Oregon breweries open their doors once again, for this annual February tradition. In 2017, Zwickelmania will take place over two weekends. In Portland, it will be on Presidents’ Day weekend on 2/18/17. The rest of Oregon will be celebrating the following weekend on 2/25/17. Over 120 breweries throughout Oregon welcome beer enthusiasts for meet-the-brewer events, tours, and beer tastings.

Where
Throughout Oregon’s beer regions including, but not limited to:
The Portland Metro Area, Central Oregon, Eastern Oregon, Gorge/Mt. Hood/ Columbia, Southern Oregon, the Coast and the Willamette Valley.
Visit http://www.oregoncraftbeer.org/zwickelmania for a regularly updated list of participating breweries and cities.

When

  • February 18, 2017 — Portland Metro Area
  • February 25, 2017 — Central Oregon, Eastern Oregon, Gorge/Mt. Hood/Columbia, Southern Oregon, the Coast and the Willamette Valley
    • Time: 11am – 4pm, both dates

Honestly I don’t know if this is a logistics issue (trying to promote 100+ breweries across the entire state in one day?) or if they want to give more people the opportunity to visit breweries in disparate areas. It’s an interesting change so if you are not in Portland and you were counting on President’s Day weekend, make a note.

And of course it’s always a good time to plug my Zwickelmania Bingo card generator, which I’ll be updating for 2017!
