At sundown today, Hanukkah officially begins for 2015. In the spirit of the holidays, and because I like to make the Beer Advent Calendar as inclusive as possible, today’s pick is a Hanukkah themed beer: Portland, Oregon’s Lompoc Brewing and their 8 Malty Nights.

Lompoc in fact releases at least eight holiday beers every year, a marathon feat that could fill a third of this Advent calendar alone! And they are one of the few breweries that brew up a Hanukkah beer.

Dark brown in color and lightly hopped with English style hops, this chocolate rye beer features a roasted chocolate flavor and a sweet finish. Raise a glass and toast l’chaim to Portland’s first Hanukkah seasonal.

It’s a relatively easy-drinking beer at 6.5% abv, one you’ll be able to enjoy all eight nights of Hanukkah. L’chaim!
