Advent Beer Calendar 2012: Day 19: Weeping Radish Christmas Bier

Weeping Radish Christmas BierToday’s beer pick is a beer which I featured way back during the first year of the Beer Advent Calendar, the Doppelbock Christmas Bier from North Carolina’s oldest craft brewery, Weeping Radish.

Strongly influenced by German brewing traditions, Weeping Radish brews all of their beers under the guidelines of the Reinheitsgebot, using only malt, hops, water, and yeast, and the Doppelbock is no exception. It’s an 8.1% abv dark lager, brewed with over 50% Munich malt to the traditional style.

Additionally, this is a very local beer as well: the malt is locally grown and malted in North Carolina, and the hops are grown there too—this is “craft” in the truest sense of the word, and would be a wonderful addition to your Christmas celebration.

Untappd. Facebook. BeerAdvocate (sort of). RateBeer: 3.18/5, 68th percentile.
