Advent Beer Calendar 2010: Day 12: Corsendonk Christmas Ale

Corsendonk Christmas AleToday’s pick is another highly-rated holiday ale from Belgium: Corsendonk Christmas Ale, a dark and spicy strong ale at 8.5% alcohol by volume. It makes its appearance for the holiday season starting in November and the brewery describes it thusly:

For this reddish brown Christmas beer, the Corsendonk brewer uses roasted special malts, the finest hops and selected yeasts, spiced up with a touch of coriander. With its delicate malty nose, Corsendonk Christmas Ale has everything only the very best Christmas beer could possibly offer: a round, balanced taste with a dry and refined aftertaste.

The Belgian yeasts add additional spiciness on top of the coriander, and this Christmas Ale should pair well with just about any dish on your holiday table—particularly a dessert. (But then again, don’t most of these holiday ales go well with dessert?)
