Deschutes/Boulevard collaboration release parties

This week Deschutes Brewery and Boulevard Brewing are introducing their collaboration ale—dubbed by Deschutes as Conflux No. 2—in a pair of release parties this week in Bend and Portland at their respective pubs. Tomorrow, the 26th, in fact, both running from 5 until 9pm.

You might remember this beer as the White IPA that marries Boulevard’s experience with Belgian-style Witbiers with Deschutes’ experience with hops and Pacific Northwest ales. As part of the release party Deschutes will be pouring not only the Deschutes-brewed version of the White IPA but also the Boulevard version—the first time ever that Deschutes has had a guest beer on tap at their pubs. So you’ll get a chance to taste these two beers side-by-side.

(There will also be a special Kansas City-inspired menu on hand at both pubs.)

This White IPA dreamed up by Boulevard Brewmaster, Steven Pauwels, and Deschutes Brewery Brewmaster, Larry Sidor is a hoppy wheat ale of sorts and the combination is exquisite! Not only did we use wheat, hops and a Belgian yeast for this brew, we also added lemongrass, whole leaf sage, spicy coriander and sweet orange peel to give it a tongue pleasing twist.

Tuesday is a special night because we will have the Deschutes version and the Boulevard version of this White IPA on tap for a side by side tasting beginning at 5pm. This collaboration brew from Boulevard Brewing is our first ever guest tap! We only have a few kegs so we suggest showing up right at 5 pm to make sure you get a chance to taste both of these tasty brews.

And, should you miss either of these two release parties, there’s a special tasting going on at the APEX beer bar in Portland on Thursday, the 28th, from 6 to 8pm:

Join us for an extremely rare opportunity to taste these two White I.P.A. collaboration brews, dreamed up by Boulevard Brewmaster, Steven Pauwels, and Deschutes Brewery Brewmaster, Larry Sidor. This exclusive side-by-side sampling of the two collaboration beers will be the ONLY time outside of the OBF buzz tent that these two talented brewmasters will be together on the west coast for this release. Don’t miss your chance to meet and talk to them face to face about how this beer came together.

Since I’ll be in town for the Oregon Brewers Festival, I’m planning on hitting APEX to check out this tasting.
