This is the largest item I have yet received for promotional purposes: It’s a five liter “DraughtKeg” which can operate as a standalone mini-keg, or be used in the “BeerTender” keg system (proprietary to Newcastle and Heineken, I believe). And yes, it’s full of beer. I’ve reviewed Newcastle Brown before, so that’s not breaking any new ground. But I am curious as to how well this works, and will report back accordingly.

I opened up the bottle of Hop Henge (Experimental IPA) tonight that Deschutes Brewery sent me, and it did not disappoint—this is, in my opinion, one of the best Imperial IPAs being brewed today. I think it gets better each year, and that I suspect is largely due to the experimental aspect of it: last year Deschutes infused hops into this beer throughout the brewing process, from the milling of the grain (no kidding) through … Continue reading →
It was a year and a half ago that I first pointed to It’s Pub Night’s Six-Pack Equivalent Calculator (SPE); a brilliant little app that tells you the equivalent cost of your beer as if you were buying a six-pack of it (in 12-ounce bottles). Which can be an eye-opening comparison. Now, to be even cooler, there is now an Android app of this as well—for the Android phone, that is. (No iPhone app yet … Continue reading →
